PR21 week scan update 🤍
At our scan, they found a small intramuscular Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) a tiny hole in the muscle wall of baby’s heart.
Hearing anything about your baby’s heart is enough to make it all feel overwhelming, especially when you’re lying there just hoping everything is “normal.”
But here’s what we’ve learned so far as a mum and dad, because even though I am a midwife everything you know just goes out the window.
It’s a small hole in the muscular part of the heart, which is actually the most common and often the most reassuring type.
Many of these close on their own during pregnancy or within the first year of life.
And in a lot of cases, it simply means monitoring, not intervention.
We’ve been referred to a fetal specialist for a more detailed scan, which is standard, just to get a clearer picture and confirm everything.
If you’re reading this because you’ve heard similar words at your scan, know there is support and love around you, and so many of these stories turn out okay 🤍
I never shared to many people about Parkes CPAM but since having this podcast I realize so many people feel alone in pregnancy and just want information.

ANHad some reduced baby movements and some swelling so checked with the midwives and they told me to come in straight away to check at our hospital in Dubai! 🙏🏽🤍 Luckily all was okay and the reason for the movement change was that the baby had flipped into a breach position!
