My book - ‘Your Baby Doesn’t Come with a Book’ helps parents prepare for and navigate the first four weeks of parenthood … and I have a couple of children’s books too! My philosophy is evidence based and the programs and my book have hundreds of 5 star reviews!! You can find my sleep programs & books linked throughout my content and linked in my bio. 💤Let’s talk about how to dress your little one for bedtime! @em.parent.ment A client just reached out to me about how to tell her little one is warm enough for bed, & I thought this was the perfect thing to share with you all! 🌟Here are some tips for how to dress your baby based on the temp of their sleep environment: ❄️Room temp 64-68°F: ▫️Dress baby in fleece onesie with footies OR ▫️Dress baby in plain long-sleeve onesie (no scratchy embroidery) with light, cotton, long-sleeve, long-pant onesie with footies over top. ☀️Room temp 68-72°F: ▫️Dress baby in plain short-sleeve onesie (no scratchy embroidery) with a light, cotton, long-sleeve, long-pant onesie with footies over top. 🔥Room temp 73-78°F: ▫️Dress baby in a short-sleeve, light cotton sleeper (they also sell these with footies) OR ▫️Dress baby in just a short-sleeve onesie (no scratchy embroidery). ✨It’s normal for your baby’s hands & feet to feel cooler than the rest of their body. This is because their body is still learning how to regulate its circulation. The best way to check if your baby is warm enough is to feel the temperature of their tummy. This is their core temp & gives you the best indication of their true temp. ▫️If it feels warm, then they’re dressed perfectly. ▫️If it feels sweaty & hot, then remove a layer. ▫️If it feels cool, then add a layer. ▫️If you’re using a swaddle or sleep sack, this is another added layer so just keep that in mind & adjust what your baby’s wearing based on how they feel when they wake up. I hope this helps you all navigate night-time sleep with your little ones 🤍 If you ever feel you need more support, I’m always here to help! Book support with me through the link in my bio 💌

Read here for sleep tips !!! 👇🏼 As a 4th time mom and a sleep consultant, I’ve found later bedtimes work better for newborns. Once we get our older kids to bed, my husband and I try to spend some time together before going to bed so we typically will try to spend our baby’s last wake window during that time. Some other tips to keep in mind: - 🤱 swaddle/diaper change halfway through feeding- ensures full feed and helps not disrupt baby before transferring to bed -🌕☀️ differentiate between day and night- keep day naps and feeds light/bright and noisy. For night sleep/feeds, dim lights, quiet. - 🌕☀️ this baby does not like being swaddled so during the day we don’t swaddle and overnight we swaddle with her arms out to help differentiate between day and night sleep - 🍼 feed often during the day- at least every 2-3 hours! Yes, this even means WAKING UP your baby!! This helps fill baby up to hopefully help them be more content overnight. #babysleep #newbornsleeptips #firstnighthome #dayinmylifevlog

Can I tell you a not-so-secret? It’s okay to stay out past your baby’s bedtime sometimes. You can have a great little sleeper and live your life too. ⁣ ⁣ Here are tips to help:⁣ 1️⃣ Allow for more daytime sleep. ⁣ Let that nap go a little longer than you might normally. This will help avoid an overtired little one. ⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ Stick to 1-2 times per week. ⁣ It’s okay (and GOOD) for little ones to learn to be flexible. You’ll still want to follow a consistent routine 80% of the time.⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ Come prepared. ⁣ Bring your sleep essentials if you’re heading to a friend’s house. Out and about? Try babywearing. If your baby or toddler won’t sleep while you’re out, don’t stress, keep following the next tips!⁣ ⁣ 4️⃣ Rely on your sleep plan. ⁣ You may see night wakings if your little one goes to bed overtired. Don’t let this stress you! The foundation you’ve laid isn’t undone. Remember, you have a plan to fall back on if things go awry. ⁣ ⁣ 5️⃣ Abbreviate the bedtime routine. ⁣ Do a “mini” version of your typical bedtime routine (Think 5-10 minutes) when you get home to help set up good sleep. (If your little one falls asleep in the car and transfers well, there’s no need to wake them.) ⁣ ⁣ 6️⃣ Plan for a “low key” day tomorrow. ⁣ Try to keep the next day as “normal” as possible. Allow for good naps at home and follow your typical sleep routines. This can be a good reset after a late night out. ⁣ ⁣ If bedtime is always a struggle or you feel like you’re locked into a rigid schedule and missing out, know I have classes to help! My goal is to help you THRIVE. Click the link in my bio to select your little one’s age. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣Where did you go the last time you were out past bedtime? Was it worth the memories made?⁣ ⁣ #outpastbedtime #latenight #toddlersleep #babysleep #bedtimeroutine #takingcarababies⁣
