Grateful for the opportunity to moderate a panel discussion at the 48th Annual Cross Cultural Conference entitled: “Can We Talk: A Community-Focused Conversation About the Mental Health Care of Individuals from Marginalized Populations.” It was an honor to share space with such thoughtful leaders in this work: Sonyia Richardson, PhD – Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work and Department of Psychiatry at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Terrance Wells, PhD – Family Support Services, LLC Remarks from Edward Simmer, MD, MPH – Director of the South Carolina Department of Public Health These conversations matter. When we center community voices, acknowledge systemic barriers, and speak honestly about disparities in care, we move closer to equity — not just in theory, but in practice. Mental health care must be culturally responsive, accessible, and rooted in dignity for every individual we serve. Thankful to contribute to a dialogue that challenges us all to do better. .

On Wednesday, March 25, New Chapter went to the @ctstatecapital Wellness Fair to inform students of our services. It was great interacting with the scholars - including those who had recently become moms, and those going to nursing school to meet moms. We even met a doula! Thanks for the chance to better serve our community! #Blackmentalhealth #mentalhealth #perinatalcare #therapy

Honored to present Still, We Breathe: The Scope of Grief for Black Men in America at the Millennial Social Work Conference. This work centers a simple but powerful truth: grief is not just personal—it is historical, communal, and embodied. As social workers, we must continue creating spaces that honor culture, connection, and collective healing. Grateful for the opportunity to share this work and learn from so many passionate practitioners. Still, We Breathe ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 🌱Drop a comment if you were in the room. Surviving generational trauma is not a sign of weakness, it’s evidence of extraordinary resilience. 🧡 For generations, black communities have carried the weight of systemic barriers, cultural erasure, and intergenerational trauma. Yet within those experiences lives resilience, strength, and a deep commitment to community and survival. At the intersection of mental health and cultural identity, care must go beyond symptoms or diagnoses. It must acknowledge history, lived experiences, and the cultural context that shapes healing. At enerje wellness, we approach mental health care with cultural awareness, compassion, and respect for the resilience that already exists within the communities we serve. Because healing is most powerful when people feel fully seen not just their struggles, but their strength. #blackmentalhealth #generationalhealing #culturallyawarecare #mentalhealthmatters #collectivecares
