The best arch in Utah ⬇️🤯 💾 Save this if you’re planning a Utah road trip. We’ve been to all five Utah National Parks (a few times now), and somehow this hike stayed off our list for way too long. That finally changed during our last Utah road trip, when we slowed things down and spent a full month exploring all five parks. Cassidy Arch Trail in Capitol Reef National Park completely surprised us. It might honestly be our favorite arch hike in Utah. Here’s why 👇👇 🧗 Cassidy Arch Trail: About 3.3 miles round trip with steady elevation gain, light scrambling, and real exposure in a few sections. This is one of the only arches in Utah you can actually walk across, and the views from the top are unreal. 🥾 The trail is just as good as the payoff. Narrow canyon walls, layered rock, and constant perspective shifts keep things interesting the entire way. 📸 Standing on top of the arch really puts the scale of Capitol Reef into perspective. It feels massive from above. A few things to know before you go 👇👇 🎒 This hike is not for everyone. If heights make you uncomfortable, some sections will feel exposed. 💧 Bring plenty of water. There is very little shade, especially once the trail opens up. ⏰ Start earlier in the day if you can. This trail heats up fast. 👉👉 We’re working on a ton of Utah and Utah National Park content. We’re filming videos, writing blog posts, and pulling everything together into a free Utah planning bundle, including: 🗺️ Custom Google Map 📘 Easy-to-follow planning guide 🗓️ Flexible 2-day itinerary ✅ Printable checklist 🦬 Utah Bingo game Comment UTAH and we’ll send it your way when it’s ready. #cassidyarch #capitolreef #capitolreefnationalpark #visitutah #utahnationalparks

📣 Some of Utah’s most incredible views require NO HIKING. You don’t have to hike to experience Utah’s Mighty Five. Some of the most iconic views in Utah’s National Parks are accessible to everyone — no hiking required. Be sure and save this post for easy access spots on your next trip. ✨ No-hike stops I love: • Park Avenue — Arches National Park (the stairs are optional below the overlook and can access the overlook without them) • Zion–Mt. Carmel Tunnel — Zion National Park — don’t even need to leave the car • Capitol Reef Scenic Drive — Capitol Reef National Park — can see right from your car • Natural Bridge Viewpoint — Bryce Canyon National Park • Green River Overlook — Canyonlands National Park (my favorite sunset spot in Utah) All of these stops are roadside or reached via paved viewpoints and are generally wheelchair-friendly, making them some of the most accessible big-impact views in Utah. Accessibility can vary slightly by overlook and weather conditions, but these views are some of the best ways to experience the parks without hiking. Proof that adventure doesn’t always have to look one way 🤎🏜️ New here? I’m Mallory — a Southwest local based in Western Colorado. Follow @hello_mallory for realistic itineraries, must see stops, and responsible ways to explore the Southwest.

Roads that inspired the Cars Movie 🚗 This is not AI and you’re not imagining it! While Radiator Springs isn’t a real town, the scenes from Pixar’s Cars movie are inspired by the epic roads from the American Southwest, especially along old highways and desert backroads. If you want to experience that “Life Is a Highway” energy in real life, these are the roads that deliver it ⬇️ 🌄 UTAH SCENIC BYWAY 12 🟢 One of the most scenic highways in the U.S. (connects Bryce Canyon NP → Capitol Reef NP) 🟢 Length: ~123 miles 🟢 Highlights: Red rock cliffs, slickrock, forest, desert all in one drive 🟢 Hikes nearby: • Calf Creek Falls – 6 mi RT | Moderate • Lower Calf Creek – waterfall payoff, flat trail 🟢 Vehicle: Any car works, paved road 🏜️ POTASH ROAD 🟢 Scenic drive along the Colorado River outside Arches NP 🟢 Length: ~17 miles one way 🟢 Stops to make: • Petroglyph panels • Jug Handle Arch • Gooseneck overlooks 🟢 Vehicle: Regular car OK on highway but if you are driving in Shafer trail you should have 4WD 🟢 Best time: Late afternoon → sunset 🏜️ MONUMENT VALLEY 🟢 One of the biggest inspirations for Cars’ desert landscapes 🟢 Drive: 17-mile Valley Drive (dirt road loop) 🟢 Vehicle: High-clearance recommended (4WD after rain) 🟢 Best time: Sunrise or sunset 🌲 COCONINO NATIONAL FOREST (AZ) 🟢 Covers Flagstaff → Sedona → Oak Creek Canyon, forest to desert transition 🟢 Best drive: Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Road (89A) 🟢 Hikes nearby: • West Fork Trail – 6.9 mi RT | Moderate • Bell Rock Pathway – 3.6 mi | Easy 🟢 Best time: Fall for colors, early morning for fewer cars ✨ Planning Tips: 🟢 Download offline maps (cell service drops fast) 🟢 Start early to avoid traffic + heat 🟢 Fill up gas whenever you can 🟢 Sunset = best light, but watch for wildlife If Lightning McQueen passed by while you are on these roads, it honestly wouldn’t feel that weird 🚗⚡ Have you been to any of these places?

Why aren’t more people talking about this road trip route?! Before we dive into the details, be sure to follow @organized_adventurer for epic road trip itineraries! While most Southwest road trip itineraries go ACROSS Utah, we have another suggestion for you. Driving from Moab, Utah to Page, Arizona down the eastern side of the state. In just 1 week you can visit 2 national parks, 2 state parks, 1 national monument, a Navajo Tribal Park, and so many incredible sides quests along the way. This is a much less touristy route, especially once you get south of Moab. Here’s how to do it: Day 0: Arrival (fly into Salt Lake City or Grand Junction) Day 1: Arches National Park Day 2: Canyonlands National Park Day 3: Sunrise at Dead Horse Point State Park and Newspaper Rock State Historical Site Day 4: Natural Bridges National Monument Day 5: Valley of the Gods (High clearance 4x4 recommended) Day 6: Monument Valley Navajo Park Day 7: Page, Arizona (home of Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, and more) ‼️Note that this route covers roads that aren’t suitable for longer vehicles or trailers (particularly the Moki Dugway on the way to Valley of the Gods). We did it in our 22 ft Sprinter van for reference. More time? Turn this into a loop from Page 👉 Grand Canyon 👉 Sedona 👉 Kanab 👉Zion 👉 Bryce 👉 Capitol Reef 👉 Moab Where would you be most excited to stop on this road trip? #roadtripusa #itinerary #roadtripping #adventureiscalling #outdoorstravel

@lizzie.wanders is wandering where red rock dreams live🏜️✨ Save this if Utah’s lesser-known gem is on your radar. 💡Capitol Reef sits in the heart of Utah’s red rock country. To reach it, fly into Salt Lake City or Grand Junction, then drive 3.5–4 hours to the town of Torrey, the park’s gateway. Hike Hickman Bridge, cruise Scenic Drive, and don’t skip the homemade pies at Gifford Homestead in Fruita! 📍Capitol Reef National Park, Utah
