My recent solo trip to @toyama_visit was a movie 🎥
I was constantly reminded of how kind the locals in Japan can be 💗My taxi driver shared his personal stories with me. I found out he was 73 years old, his sister was a school teacher, and that his son has his own manga. I went to a Chinese medicine place where the store worker made sure that I got exactly what I needed and gave me a special present on my way out. All the Mom and pop shops that I ate at were delicious, affordable with great hospitality. I went to this museum where you can have an experience of feeding the seagull for only ¥100. I thought I needed a reservation, but because no one else was there, they took me to do the activity right away and it ended up being a core memory that I’ll never forget. I went to this beautiful temple where I got to ring the bell and had it all to myself. It was an incredibly reflective and amazing time, but also a sad stark reminder of just how lonely these places are with no tourists. I hope by making these kinds of videos it will encourage people to not be afraid of a language, barrier or cultural difference. But instead want to get outside of their comfort zone and truly support the locals here.
