Read this slowly. This might change how you see your entire career. 👇 . A year ago I was the dentist people politely asked — “So… are you doing MDS?” As if a general practice was a consolation prize. As if BDS alone wasn’t enough to build something real. Today I run a clinic I’m proud of. Patients who return. Referrals that come in without chasing. A team. A system. A life I designed. No MDS. No family legacy. No shortcut. . Here’s exactly what actually built it 👇 ① I stopped apologising for being a general dentist. The moment I owned my identity — patients felt it. Confidence is clinical too. . ② I picked depth over breadth. Instead of 6 average courses, I went deep into ONE area. Became the person people came to specifically for that. That one skill changed my case acceptance completely. . ③ I learned how to run a business, not just a clinic. Dental school teaches you to treat. Nobody teaches you to lead a team, manage cash flow, retain patients, or price your services without guilt. I had to unlearn the fear of the business side. That was the real turning point. . ④ I built in public. Sharing my journey — the wins and the hard days — attracted the right patients and the right peers. Your story is not unprofessional. It’s your biggest asset. . ⑤ I found my people. A community of young clinicians who were figuring it out without the MDS tag. We shared, we questioned, we grew together. You cannot build alone. . Here’s the truth nobody says out loud — The dental industry has made us believe that without a specialty, we are somehow less. . But general dentistry done with intention, with skill, with heart? That is a career. That is a legacy. If you’re a fresh BDS graduate or a young clinician wondering whether this path is enough — It is. You are enough. . Save this post 🔖 and share it with a batchmate who needs to read this today.

A lot of dentists try to grow by copying what they see online. But when you copy without context, you skip the fundamentals. Communication, diagnosis, planning, and decision making. That’s why the best dentists focus on building systems, not copying posts. What’s your take on this? #Dentistry #DentistLife #DentalEducation #DentalGrowth #DentalPractice

Dental school taught you how to diagnose, prep, and produce. But it didn’t teach you how to build a practice that actually works. ✅ How to lead a team. ✅ How to create systems that don’t depend on you. ✅ How to communicate treatment so patients understand the value. ✅ How to build a culture where people want to stay. ✅ How to practice dentistry without burning out. So most dentists do what they were shown. ❌ Produce more. ❌ Work harder. ❌ Stay busier. But busyness isn’t the same as building a practice. The dentists who eventually break through start realizing something: Great dentistry alone doesn’t build great practices. Leadership, systems, and patient experience do. That’s the difference between running an operatory… and building something that actually lasts. Follow @thethrivedentists for more insights on dental leadership, practice growth, case acceptance, and building a practice that works for you, not the other way around. #dentistry #dentistryworld #dentallife #dentistrytoday #dentistrymyworld

If I could go back to my first year as a dentist, I wouldn’t spend so much time stressing about the clinical stuff. Hear me out. Yes, you need solid clinical skills. Yes, CE matters. But what I really wish I had focused on sooner was communication. That’s where the anxiety lives. Because the hardest part of dentistry isn’t the crown prep. It’s the conversation before it. It’s explaining treatment in a way that makes sense. It’s helping patients feel safe enough to say yes. It’s knowing what to say when someone says, “Let me think about it.” No one teaches you those phrases in dental school. But they make a huge difference in your confidence, your case acceptance, and honestly your burnout level. If you want a few of the exact phrases I use with patients, comment PHRASES and I’ll send you a free PDF sampling of a few of my favorite techniques. And follow for more real dental talk they definitely didn’t teach us in school.

Dental school teaches you how to treat teeth; not how to lead people, run a business, or hold a team together. For me, that realization hit week one in practice. I felt clinically ready… and completely unprepared for everything else. Leadership, communication, managing a team; those lessons didn’t come with a syllabus. They came through experience, mistakes, and growth over years. This reel is about the moment I realized dentistry was only part of the job and that becoming a true practice owner required a whole new level of learning. If you’re a dentist navigating that same transition, you’re not behind. You’re learning what dental school never taught us. #Entrepreneur #DentalLeadership #WomenInDentistry

Here are 5 main reasons of choosing dentistry as my career, but first let's be realistic, I was surely influenced by my dad since I was a kid but NEVER thought of doing it because of that, soo here we go👇 1- I wanted an "independant" career where people can’t talk back😜 2- And yes… I notice everyone’s teeth first.😉 3- I enjoy turning fear into relief🧘‍♀️ 4- I definitely believe teeth deserve second chances🦷 5- And finally… teeth don’t ghost you, (Patients do👻) Voilà!😌 Do I regret it? No, but honestly I thought this would be easier and less challenging, But guess what? Challenges are part of growth and I'm grateful for where I am now. #dentistry #dentalcareer #careerchoice #dentist

Most young consultants don’t lose respect because of poor clinical skills. They lose respect because they try too hard to be liked. Early in consultancy, we say yes to everything — 👉flexible timings 👉extra procedures 👉waiting endlessly 👉avoiding payment discussions 👉adjusting to every clinic system. We think being accommodating will build relationships. But clinics don’t intentionally disrespect consultants. They simply follow the standards we set from Day 1. When there is no structure, people assume there are no boundaries. Senior consultants eventually learn this: ✅Fixed visit schedules create reliability ✅Case confirmation creates efficiency ✅Clear communication prevents chaos ✅Defined payment systems remove awkwardness ✅Professional boundaries build long-term respect Consultancy is not only clinical dentistry. It is practice management without owning the practice. The moment you stop trying to be the “nice doctor” and start becoming the organized doctor, everything changes — smoother clinics, better referrals, less burnout, and more professional respect. Respect in consultancy is rarely demanded. It is quietly engineered through systems. #ConsultantDentist #ConsultantLife #YoungDentist #Dentistry #DentalPracticeManagement

I did everything we’re “supposed” to do as dentists, school, residency, opened my own practice, and still felt stuck. It’s like I hit this ceiling I couldn’t break through. So I started traveling for advanced CE, learning from mentors who completely changed how I see dentistry. That’s why I created Limitless On Demand, to make that kind of training more accessible, so any dentist can level up their skills and grow their practice faster. . #dentist #cosmeticdentistry #bonding

For a long time, I believed something many dentists believe. “If my clinic just gets more patients… everything will improve.” More patients → more treatments → more income. At least that’s what it looks like from the outside. But when patient flow actually increased, I noticed something interesting. The clinic got busier… but growth didn’t increase in the same proportion. That’s when I realised something important. If your consultation is weak, more patients simply means more treatment rejections. If your positioning is unclear, more patients means more negotiation. If your confidence is unstable, more patients means more stress during the day. More patients don’t fix a clinic. They only amplify what is already happening inside the clinic. Most of the time, the real problem isn’t numbers. It’s clarity. Clarity about who you want to treat. Clarity about the kind of cases you want to build. Clarity about what you want to be known for. Sometimes chasing “more patients” becomes a distraction. Better positioning is the real solution. #lifeofadentist#dentalclinic#patientcommunication

Many dentists are confused about whether to continue in this field or not. And honestly… I understand that feeling. When I started BDS, I wasn’t someone who instantly fell in love with dentistry. Like most students, I was just trying to understand the course, the workload, the expectations. The early years were mostly about adjusting. But something started changing around my third year. When clinical work increased, when patients started coming to the dental chair, the experience felt very different. And during internship, when I rotated through departments and actually spent time treating patients, something became clear to me. I had developed a genuine love for the process of clinical work. Diagnosing problems. Planning treatment. Working with patients. Seeing someone walk in with pain and leave feeling relieved. That process started feeling meaningful. From that point, my thinking changed. Instead of asking “Should I continue in this field?” I started asking a different question: “How can I build my career around the part of dentistry that I truly enjoy?” For me, that answer was simple. Clinical work. So I focused on that. Learning more. Practicing more. Figuring out how to make this profession sustainable and meaningful at the same time. And when I look back today, I realize something interesting. Sometimes we don’t fall in love with a profession immediately. Sometimes the love develops slowly… while doing the work. Did your connection with dentistry happen immediately… or did it grow over time? #dentalclinic#patientcommunication#dentistry
