Devdas (2002). 🙌❤️‍🩹🫂 directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is a tragic romantic film based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic novel. The story revolves around Devdas Mukherjee (played by Shah Rukh Khan), a wealthy but emotionally weak man who returns to India after studying abroad and reunites with his childhood love Paro / Parvati (played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan). Despite their deep love, Devdas’s orthodox family, especially his mother Kaushalya (played by Kirron Kher), rejects Paro because of her lower social status. Devdas, instead of standing up for their love, succumbs to his pride and inner conflicts, which leads to their painful separation. Paro is then married off to an older widower Chaudhary Bhuvan Chandra Singh (played by Jackie Shroff), while Devdas sinks into alcoholism and self-destruction. During this phase, he finds emotional refuge in Chandramukhi (played by Madhuri Dixit), a courtesan with a pure heart who truly loves him and tries to save him from his downfall. However, Devdas’s guilt, weakness, and addiction overpower him, and his health deteriorates rapidly. In the end, Devdas dies outside Paro’s mansion, and Paro, now bound by societal rules, is unable to reach him, making their love story eternally incomplete. The film powerfully portrays themes of unfulfilled love, societal pressure, pride, sacrifice, and self-destruction, leaving a lasting emotional impact on the audience. . . .
