🌱FARM TO TABLE🌱 restaurant + farm in Cypress! @seasons.harvest makes all of their organic food from their own land + sourced from local farmers! You can walk around their property and see the goats used for cheese and milk, (and feed) the chickens used for eggs — it’s such a nice spot to bring the whole family. In addition to the restaurant, they have a little store where you can buy some of their produce and souvenirs ☺️ The food is really good, and I highly recommend spending time here! ☀️ 📌 Seasons Harvest The Farmer’s Table: 17303 Shaw Rd Cypress, Texas 77429 ⏰ Hours: Sunday & Monday: Closed Tuesday - Thursday: 8am - 3pm Friday: 8am - 3pm & 5pm - 9pm Saturday: 8am - 3pm #houston #houstonfoodie #houstonfood #farmtotable #thingstodoinhouston

“I don’t know how people eat rabbit.” That’s what everyone says — usually right before admitting they’ve only had it cooked wrong. Rabbit is lean. It’s not forgiving. And if you rush it, it will turn dry. In this video, I’m cooking a new creamy paprika-braised rabbit recipe and breaking down: • why rabbit needs fat + time • the biggest mistake people make cooking it • how slow braising completely changes the texture • and why this method works when others don’t This isn’t about convincing everyone to eat rabbit — it’s about cooking it the way it actually deserves. If you’ve ever said “I could never eat that,” this one might surprise you. #RabbitRecipe #HomesteadCooking #FarmToTable #NoseToTail #RealFood

This is my goodbye to summer. Tomato tartare is what you make when the tomatoes are so good, they don’t need heat — just a sharp knife, a couple of friends and a little love. Bright. Juicy. A little bit meaty. Make it while you still can. 🍅 #TomatoTartare #easyrecipes #SummerRecipes #FarmToTable #FoodReels

In order for our farm business to support both of us comfortably, we need to make $100k in profit (EBITDA). We live in rural BC, where the cost of living is high. We’re 33 and 34, child-free, rent a modest basement suite, and live pretty frugally. We started our farm while already carrying some debt—and then took on more to get things off the ground. $100k doesn’t actually go that far when we have to cover our living expenses, pay our taxes, service our debt, and have a bit left over to reinvest or save for land. Here’s how we plan to get there: • $333k in annual revenue • 30% profit margin • = $100k in profit That breaks down to: • 111 orders/week • 3 delivery days with 37 orders each • An average order value of $60 • For 50 weeks of the year Will we hit that number this year? Probably not. But we’ll get close. And by two years from now- our 7th season—we’re confident we will. Sitting down to write out our financial goals every year is one of the most important things we do. It gives us a roadmap and keeps us motivated when we’re feeling discouraged. Comment ‘Blueprint’ if you want to learn more about our Farm Hub model and how it could help you achieve your financial goals. #RegenerativeFarming #MarketGardening #NoTillFarming #farmtotable

This “Rainbow Net” Stops Pests Without Chemicals Japanese farmers and researchers are testing a clever alternative to chemical spraying: pest control that uses light. Instead of relying on pesticides, some growers cover crops with colored, photo-selective nets that filter and scatter sunlight. Many insect pests use visual cues, including specific wavelengths and contrast, to find host plants and decide where to land and lay eggs. By changing the light environment above the crop, these nets can make it harder for pests to orient, recognize plants, and settle. In field and lab work in Japan, red-colored insect nets have shown strong deterrent effects against onion thrips in Welsh onion production, helping reduce damage and the need for repeated pesticide applications. Because the approach targets behavior rather than poisoning insects, it can fit well with integrated pest management: fewer chemical inputs, less off-target contamination, and better conditions for beneficial insects and natural enemies. Results depend on the crop, the pest species, and local conditions, but the principle is clear: sometimes the most effective “spray” is not a chemical, but a redesigned environment. Instead of fighting insects head-on, farmers are changing how insects see the field. Sources: The University of Tokyo, Red nets signal “stop” to insect pests, reduce need for pesticides. Stop buying cream of chicken soup. This version is: ✔️ Creamier ✔️ More flavorful ✔️ Made from scratch ✔️ Ready in minutes Perfect for casseroles, pot pies, or anything that calls for “the can.” Skip the processed stuff — your recipes deserve better. Save this for later 🥄 Recipe: (You can put the chicken in and use as a soup- or leave it out if you’re using for a casserole) Ingredients: • 4 tbsp butter • 1/4 cup flour • 2 cups chicken broth • 1 cup milk (or half & half for extra creaminess) • 1 1/2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (optional) • 1/2 tsp celery salt • 1/2 tsp garlic powder • 1/2 tsp onion powder • Salt & pepper to taste Directions: Melt butter in a pot over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden. Slowly whisk in chicken broth, then milk, stirring until smooth and thickened. Add shredded chicken and season with celery salt, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–10 minutes until creamy and heated through. Perfect on its own or as a base for casseroles 🤍 #urbanfarm #growwhatyoueat #homemadefromscratch #farmtotable seasonalcooking

Store Bought vs Homestead Raised Chicken: What’s the Difference? We roasted a store bought chicken and one of our homestead raised chickens side by side to see if there was really a difference. Same oven. Same rack. Same pan. No seasoning. The biggest difference for us was the flavor. The store bought tasted much milder, while the homestead chicken had a deeper, richer taste. We also noticed thinner skin on the store bird and more broth rendered from the homestead raised. Have you ever compared them side by side? Just sharing what we noticed. #homesteading #raiseyourownfood #backyardchickens #farmtotable #HomeCooking
