CIDid you know that @champagnepapi & filmmaker @theo.skudra teamed up to create the second music video shot on IMAX film cameras, since Adele, using the same technology that Sir Christopher Nolan uses to film his movies.
Then Drake hired out the Scotiabank Theatre Toronto, Canada to screen their new music video “NOKIA” in full IMAX with an expanded aspect ratio of 1.43:1.
We wonder if this will be screened internationally on other GT screens either by film print or digital laser.

HEI was so excited today because I got the perfect middle seat then this happened 😭
This theater had an old projector and its brain got wrapped up a few seconds after it just started rolling (we saw glimpse of image before the screen went dark again)
Even though I didn’t get to watch #oppenheimer I still got the theater experience of sitting amongst strangers. There were people that drove from New York, and a group of young people sitting in front of me had one of them explaining what a “brain wrap” means to an IMAX projector. When we were waiting to hear back about the situation, two film students behind me were conversing about their first impression of each other after seeing each other’s video projects.
After waiting for over an hour, the theater had no choice but to refund a sold out show.
In need of entertainment, I bought standard tickets for Barbie and Oppenheimer on the spot, good seats (because that is always my priority) and got this theater’s last imax 70mm showtime at the 5th row, before @paults4ng showed me chin memes and I had to change seat again.
Even on that small standard screen I could see how vibrant the color was and the high definition of the film image. I was not feeling as devastated as if after watching The Pianist like I thought, but some of the technicalities of this film is immaculate. Nolan did a good job to portray Oppie’s sociopathy on every level from editing to soundtrack. However as one that loves a good character development, this film does not do oppie justice as many character-defining events are left out when I expected more objectivity from the colored scenes. Oppenheimer turns out to be a series of historical events truthfully told through a cinematic lens instead of a dull documentary series.
All that said, I can still appreciate this film despite not liking everything about it. I imagine it must looks beautiful on the big screen and look forward to a rewatch on Aug 9th
