BUIPU Toplantılarının 3. Gününde Cenevre'deyiz. Sabah saatlerinde başlayan Genel Kurul görüşmeleri ve komite toplantıları devam ediyor.
☕ 152. IPU Genel Kurulu'nun İstanbul'da yapılacak olması dolayısıyla, Türk kahvesi ve lokum ikramında bulunduğumuz Türkiye standına ilgi çok yüksek.

We are in Geneva for the 3rd day of the IPU Meetings. The General Assembly sessions and committee meetings, which started in the morning, are still ongoing.
☕ As the 152nd IPU General Assembly will be held in Istanbul, there is great interest in the Turkish desk, where we are offering Turkish coffee and delight.

PAIN ATTENDANCE || Members of the National Council Hon. Iswarin Rooi and Hon. Bethuel Tjaveondja are attending the Forum of Women Parliamentarians at the ongoing 152nd IPU Assembly and Related Meetings taking place in Türkiye, Istanbul.
Participants will discuss the draft resolutions that are on the agenda of the 152nd Assembly on the role of parliaments in establishing robust post-conflict management mechanisms and restoring a just and lasting peace (Standing Committee on Peace and International Security) and Building a fair and sustainable global economy: the role of parliaments in combating protectionism, reducing tariffs, and
preventing corporate tax avoidance (Standing Committee on Sustainable Development).
Participants will also discuss the draft resolutions from a gender perspective and issue recommendations on possible gender equality-related amendments to be submitted by the Forum of Women Parliamentarians to the Standing Committees. #ipu152

PAMember of the parliamentary delegation, Ms Jane Mananiso, engaged with the four women candidates during the hearing on the selection of the next Secretary-General, congratulating them on their nominations and commending the strong representation of women in the process. She encouraged them to reflect on how they would strengthen and advance gender-responsive mechanisms within the IPU if elected.
The hearing forms part of the process to appoint a successor to Mr Martin Chungong, who is set to retire after his tenure as Secretary-General.
Members of the Governing Council will elect the new Secretary-General by secret ballot on Sunday, 19 April 2026.
The outgoing Secretary-General was also commended for his distinguished service and his support for the work of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians.
