PUIn parts of Colombia, some towns are connected by an old cable system that locals use like a lifeline.
Two fixed ropes run in opposite directions, and people use a makeshift harness to send everything across, including food, supplies, small animals, and even kids in backpacks. The cable is reportedly around 50 years old, about 800 meters long and roughly 300 meters high, and the ride takes around 30 seconds each way, saving locals an estimated 2 to 3 hours of walking.

The entire sheet of ice is slowly shifting due to wind pressure, subtle water movement beneath the surface, or temperature driven expansion and contraction. Because the pole is fixed deep in the lakebed, the moving ice creates a powerful optical illusion that tricks the brain into seeing motion in the pole.
Large frozen lakes can behave like massive floating plates, capable of drifting as one solid structure. These movements can produce strange visuals, deep cracking sounds, and pressure ridges that reshape the frozen landscape while everything anchored below remains perfectly still.

PRAlong the southern edge of the Dead Sea in Jordan, shallow evaporation ponds can turn a striking pink. The color usually comes from salt tolerant microorganisms and algae that flourish in extremely saline water, especially under intense heat and high evaporation.
As water evaporates, dissolved salts remain behind and become more concentrated. Over time, the brine reaches salinity levels far higher than typical ocean water, dramatically increasing its density.
When a rock is thrown into this dense, mineral rich water, it can sink much more slowly or appear to briefly float. The unusually high salinity increases buoyant force, creating a visible demonstration of how water density directly affects whether an object sinks or stays at the surface.
