Getting back to my regular fitness routine and the intensity at which i used to work out prior to my miscarriage has taken me some time. Mostly it’s been about mental rehabilitation for me. The mind body connection is REAL. What a lot of people don’t know is that I’m still grieving and ashamed to admit it. But I guess I’m admitting it now. Sometimes I start to tear up or cry during workouts. Fitness has always been therapeutic for me so I can’t help it. And now that my body is gradually returning to what it was pre-pregnancy (something I felt couldn’t come fast enough) a part of me is sad, bc it almost feels like the pregnancy never happened. It’s just…so strange. What gives me consolation is my coaches and instructors all know me well, and when they see me they pay me extra attention and make sure I’m doing ok. I couldn’t appreciate that more. Today I felt so supported at @naturalpilates SoHo where I’m back to pushing myself as hard as I used to. While I love that I have a waistline again I just feel like I’ve lost so much. I still catch myself at night cradling my belly, as if it’s still there. 😢 Is this normal? I’m going to keep working through this though until mind and body are aligned once again. But I just felt like sharing this today because even though I was sad I knew I was having some kind of positive breakthrough while on the reformer today. That’s it.
