Does your dog TRULY understand? ⬇️⬇️⬇️ In the NePoPo® system, this leash pressure drill is a systematic process that utilizes clear communication AND motivation to teach the dog how to maintain behaviors confidently and consistently, even under slight pressure/stress… Here’s how it works: ➖ Negative (Ne): The handler applies gentle, steady leash pressure (negative reinforcement) to communicate to the dog that they need to stay in the desired position, such as a sit, down, or stand. The pressure is not intended to be harsh but simply an informational signal that the dog needs to remain compliant with the position. This will also test how well your dog knows their cues (commands). ➕ Positive (Po): When the dog holds the position correctly despite the leash pressure, the behavior is immediately marked with a conditioned continuation marker (e.g. “Good”). This moment of clarity tells the dog they have done the right thing. ➕ Positive (Po): After the marker, the leash pressure is released, and the dog is rewarded with something motivating, such as food, a toy, or praise. This creates a clear contrast between the work phase (pressure) and the reward phase, which motivates the dog to engage in the behavior with enthusiasm and confidence. The drill combines pressure, clarity, and rewards in a way that ensures the dog fully understands their job. Before I knew anything about NePoPo®, twc possession games, or even the broader world of dog training let alone how to play, my main resources were @michael_ellis_school DVDs on Leerburg. I watched them over and over, especially The Power of Playing Tug with Your Dog. Maybe I’ve learned a few things since then. My approach has evolved, and I teach my dog a bit differently now. But I still hold onto those fundamentals: Play with enthusiasm. Out when told. Bring the toy back. These never get old, they still shape how I train and connect with my dogs every day. Alright, time to go out play with my dogs. 클럽 트레이닝 때 이런 질문을 받았어요. “먹는 것보다 놀이를 더 신나하는 것 같은데, 푸드 대신 터그로 트레이닝 해도 되나요?” 👉정답은 YES. 그 순간 개들이 원하는 거라면, 보상(강화물)은 뭐든 될 수 있습니다. 다만, 플레이를 보상으로 쓸 땐 몇 가지 룰이 있어요. - 개가 열정적으로 놀아야 하고, - “놔” 하면 바로 놔야 하고, - 장난감을 던지면 물고 바로 달려와야 해요. 이 준비가 되었다면, 놀이로도 충분히 훈련할 수 있습니다. 그리고 훨씬 더 즐겁게 배울 수 있어요.

TIME NEEDS TIME ⏳ Rehabilitating aggression (and other serious behavioral problems) is a delicate process that demands patience. Rushing not only undermines the effectiveness and permanence of healing, but will likely create major setbacks that exacerbate the initial problem The truth is, even when you take your time, progress is never linear. You take steps forward, and you take steps back. You must embrace the journey if you are to take on this kind of a case as a professional, and even more so if you are the owner. Time needs time … Sue just completed an eight week board and train with us to address his various issues, namely human aggression, dog reactivity, environmental insecurity, and resource guarding. But the eight weeks he spent with us is just the START. We got the ball rolling, and now, we continue with private sessions with his owners Everyone wants to be the savior that gets a rescue. Not many will actually commit to the work it takes. ADVOCATE FOR YOUR DOG 🫶🏾 What you see in the beginning of this video is unfortunately commonplace Many people walk around without having full control of their dog. Nonetheless, it is STILL your job to make your dog feel safe. Advocate for your dog, and they won’t feel like they must fend for themselves with aggression. Then, teach him how to relax and recover So how do we do this? First - one of the most important things you can do is clearly show your dog that YOU will handle the situation (pay attention to how I position my body between the encroaching dog and Sue) Second - you can use the power of classical conditioning to create a powerful STRESS RELIEVER on cue 💡 Just like we can tell a person to “take a deep breath” in stressful situations, we can tell our dogs to “shake [stress] off” and relax To do this, you must present a neutral cue (e.g. shake it off) right before and/or while your dog naturally performs the behavior. You can leave it at that, or go an extra step and operantly reinforce the behavior by paying your dog with a high value reward right after they do the behavior (I like to do this to speed up the process) With repetition, your dog will quickly associate your cue with the behavior he naturally offers. Before long, you will be able to make the shake off behavior happen on cue! Now the REALLY cool part is that you’re not just making a behavior happen on cue … you’re also capturing the physiological and neurological effects of a stress reliever By doing both steps 1 & 2, you will teach your dog how to remain cool under tense situations AND how to recover afterwards 🎥: @assane_gaaye #KIBAK9s #NYC #NePoPo #Aggression #Anxiety
