MIThe science of purpose has three components.
One: It has to matter to you. Nobody can give you your purpose.
Two: It’s bigger than you. It’s not about you. It’s about being in service of something larger.
Three: It’s out in front of you. It’s something to work towards.
If you have all those three, now you’re anchored to purpose.
Purpose does not need to be grand.
It can be something as intimate as sending my children to college, or to raise my children to flourish, or be a great partner.
It can be intimate and small, or grand and large.
This is one of the tall tent poles for people that live a great life—they’re very clear on what matters most to them, and when they enter an environment, they’re connected to that.
Those people are so clear about what matters most. They come in as a force, like, look, we got some work to do.
