She always has great ideas to get him excited and test his boundaries.
We're so thankful for a grant the hospital is giving us. There are stipulations that we have to keep up with. Trevor progressing is the biggest key. He is, bravo, bravo Trev!
Our grant is now only covering 2 p.t visits a week, 2 o.t, and 1 speech. If over the 12 weeks on it, he needs more, they will allocate for more the next time. Every 12 weeks we have to reapply and pray he gets the grant. There has been a gap between and then we have to pay full price for the therapies. Which is really a bummer. It varies from $200-400 each 1 hr appt. Swim and a counselor is not covered. So that's out of pocket.
The medical world is an absolute money sucker. Every vehicle, tool, device, medicine, supplement, appointment after appointment is a massive cost. We're totalling about 160k
If your in this position, get prepared. Right off the bat, I started paying every bill the hospital sent us. 12k, 11k, 6k, 7k, 300, whatever it was. Then I started receiving all the ones from our insurance "Patient Responsibility", 507k, 68k, on and on, over 30k more, I stopped paying them. Applying for financial aid over and over hoping to get approved for a few pennies off. Letting some go to credit, so we can ask for a pay down. I knew saving some of the bills for later, to use money on hand for critical things to heal him was really important. Plus another friend told me to wait and see after, what the total was. If it was a lot, filing for a hardship was what we would have to do.
I share this because there are many every day walking similar paths. What should you do? I don't know. But having a tiny bit of knowledge towards what could come, may help. Apply for everything you can, pinch those pennies because every one counts. Look for handicap supplies online. There are charities and foundations that can help. We didn't know any of this. We got swindled that we needed a handicap shower buddy, then received the bill for almost 4k! I was pissed, fought it, lost. Brand new, in the package, they wouldn't come pick it up.
