MAAumentano le truffe nel settore fintech e nel Regno Unito, secondo #Bloomberg, proprio Revolut, la piattaforma bancaria basata su app, sarebbe tra le più colpite. 😱
Le frodi a danno dei consumatori riguardano i pagamenti push autorizzati (denominate "APP") in cui i truffatori inducono con l'inganno le vittime a cliccare su link fake e a trasferire denaro su conti da loro controllati.
Solo 2023 le perdite causate da queste truffe hanno raggiunto i 460 milioni di sterline! Eppure i consumatori stanno incontrato notevoli difficoltà a ottenere rimborsi: ad esempio Revolut avrebbe respinto migliaia di richieste di risarcimento, generando una forte ondata di reclami.🤬😡🤬
Secondo i media, un esempio emblematico di queste problematiche è quello di George Workman, imprenditore londinese e fondatore di Liberation Cocktails, che ha subito la perdita di 10.800 sterline. I truffatori, fingendosi agenti antifrode di Revolut, lo hanno convinto a seguire un link che avrebbe dovuto metterlo in contatto con il supporto, ma in realtà, questo ha permesso ai criminali di accedere ai suoi fondi sul conto Revolut!
Il punto è che Revolut ha rigettato le richieste di rimbordo del consumatore che infatti si è rivolto al Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) ed è ancora in attesa di una decisione.😓
🚨Nel Regno Unito sta arrivando una nuova normativa (da ottobre 2024) che obbligherà tutte le banche e fintech a rimborsare le vittime di frodi entro 5 giorni: questa riforma suddivide la responsabilità dei rimborsi tra i diversi soggetti coinvolti nella transazione fraudolenta e impone a Revolut di coprire il 50% degli indennizzi! 👏🏻
