The Catholic Church is not just the Roman Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is a universal communion of 24 self-governing Churches (sui iuris). One of them is the Latin Church, often called the Roman Catholic Church. The other 23 are Eastern Catholic Churches, which are fully Catholic and in communion with the Pope while preserving their own ancient liturgies, languages, spiritual traditions, and hierarchies. They are not separate denominations, but different traditions within the one Catholic Church. The 24 Catholic Churches Latin Tradition 1. Latin Church (Roman Catholic) Alexandrian Tradition 2. Saint Padre Pio was born on May 25, 1887 in Pietrelcina, southern Italy. He was tutored privately until his entry to the novitiate of the Capuchin Friars at the age of 15. Of feeble health but strong will, with the help of grace, he completed the required studies and was ordained a priest in 1910. On September 20, 1918 the five wounds of our Lord’s passion appeared on his body, making him the first stigmatized priest in the history of the Catholic Church. Countless persons were attracted to his confessional and many more received his saintly counsel and spiritual guidance through correspondence. His whole life was marked by long hours of prayer and continual austerity. His letters to his spiritual directors reveal the ineffable suffering, physical and spiritual, which accompanied him all through his life. They also reveal his deep union with God, his burning love for the Blessed Eucharist and Our Blessed Lady. On January 9, 1940, Saint Pio announced his grandiose plans to develop a Home for the Relief of Suffering (the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza). The Casa opened its doors on May 5, 1956 as a 300 bed facility. Saint Pio considered the Casa Sollievo Della Sofferenza (Casa) his “Work,” inspired and blessed by God, to be a haven of relief from suffering for all of God’s children in pain in body or soul. Worn out by over half a century of intense suffering and constant apostolic activity in San Giovanni Rotondo, Saint Pio was called to his heavenly reward on September 23, 1968. After a public funeral, which attracted over 100,000 mourners, his body was entombed in the crypt of Our Lady of Grace Church. Increasing numbers flock to his tomb from all parts of the world and many testify to spiritual and temporal graces received. On December 18, 1997, by the reading of the decree on the heroic virtues, the Holy Father John Paul II declared Padre Pio “Venerable,” and on June 16, 2002, over 500,000 Padre Pio devotees gathered in Rome to witness Pope John Paul II proclaim Padre Pio, “Saint Pio of Pietrelcina”. ⚜️

A lot of people are shocked when they hear that the Catholic Church isn’t just “Roman Catholic.” There are 23 Churches in full communion with Rome, spread across East and West. Different languages. Different vestments. Different liturgical expressions. But the same Creed. The same sacraments. The same Eucharist. The Latin Church is the largest, but alongside it are the Byzantine, Armenian, Syriac, Coptic, Chaldean, Maronite, and more. Some chant in Greek or Arabic. Some use ancient Aramaic. Some celebrate facing the iconostasis, others at a Gothic altar. The beauty looks different, but the sacrifice of the Mass is the same. This is what catholic actually means. Universal. Unity without uniformity. The Church doesn’t erase cultures. She baptizes them. Twenty-three distinct traditions, fully Catholic, fully united, all proclaiming the same faith handed down from the apostles. Follow @saintly_vibes for more!

🎶 Anima Christi (Marco Frisina) — Sophie Clarke 🕊️ Nobody signed this prayer. It appeared in a manuscript dated 1334, with no author attached. For 700 years, Catholics have prayed it the moment the host touches the tongue. Twelve lines. No preamble. Just a voice asking Christ to sanctify it, hide it within His wounds, and call it at the hour of death. ⛪ Marco Frisina set the prayer to music in 2000. He is a Roman Catholic priest who composes. In the late 1970s, John Paul II heard him play while he was still a seminary student, and told him directly: use this gift to evangelize. Frisina built the 300-voice Choir of the Diocese of Rome, composed more than 27 works reflecting the Pope's own writings, and became Chapel-master of the Lateran since 1985. 🎤 Sophie Clarke is a mezzo-soprano from Liverpool, England. She graduated with Distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2024 and has been heard across 120 countries. She sang Bernstein's Mass at the Royal Festival Hall under Marin Alsop, with Bernstein's own children watching from the audience. Who do you hear in this voice — the prayer, the composer, or the singer? 🕯️ 🎤 Sophie Clarke 🇬🇧 Nationality: British Voice type: Mezzo-soprano @sophieclarkesinger 🎼 Anima Christi Composer: Marco Frisina 🇮🇹 Composition date: 2000 Libretto/Text: Anonymous Latin prayer (c. 1334) Original language: Latin #BestOfOpera #catholicmusic #opera #SacredMusic

Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy understand the Eucharist much differently than what Jesus and His Apostles taught within the scriptures. Both traditions teach that salvation is entirely by God’s grace, rooted in Christ’s atoning work, and that the Eucharist is a divinely appointed means of participating in that grace — not an independent human work that adds to the cross. The main problem and contradiction of their traditions with the Apostolic teaching is that it places participation in sacraments as a condition for salvation alongside genuine faith in what Christ has already done. They say they're participating and cooperating but Paul teaches that grace can't be grace if it's obtained by works. Participation and cooperation are both our doing and Paul even teaches that salvation is not our doing so that we may boast. Any participation or cooperation gives you reason to boast and it's because of this very reason that Paul argues that our works can never earn or merit God's grace. He gives it freely to those whom He wills. If Christ’s atoning work on the cross is fully sufficient for justification, then no external participation — however sacred — can be made necessary for obtaining saving grace. Ephesians 2:8–9 — “by grace… through faith… not of works.” Romans 3:28 — “by faith apart from works of the law.” Romans 4:4–5 — “who does not work but believes.” Galatians 2:16 — not justified by works but by faith in Christ. Titus 3:5 — “not by works of righteousness which we have done.” RC and EO teachings hold huge similarity with the heretical positions held by Galatians, who placed circumcision (which was a God-given covenant sign) as an additional ritual requirement for salvation to be complete within an individual. Also, with the Hebrews who stressed that animal sacrifices must be practiced from time to time for the cleansing of sins. All these heretical positions stem from a simple misunderstanding of what the gospel is. If you need to constantly work and participate in rituals to obtain salvation, then it cannot be called as a free gift anymore. #solascriptura #solafide #romancatholic #orthodox #protestant

“If sinners saw hell for one second, they would crawl on broken glass to Confession.” - St. Veronica Giuliani “To prevent the sheep from seeking assistance by her cries, the wolf seizes her by the neck, and thus securely carries her away and devours her. The Devil acts in a similar manner with the sheep of Jesus Christ. After having induced them to yield to sin, he seizes them by the throat, that they may not confess their guilt; and thus he securely brings them to Hell. For those who have sinned grievously, there is no means of salvation but the confession of their sins.” St. Alphonsus Liguori, St. Augustine #catholic, #christian, #romancatholic, #prayer, #sacraments

Maundy Thursday remembers the night of Last Supper, when Jesus Christ shared his final meal with his disciples before his crucifixion. Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist by offering bread and wine as His body and blood, forming the foundation of the Mass as recorded in the Gospel of Luke and First Epistle to the Corinthians, when Jesus took bread and said, “This is my body,” and then took the cup saying, “This is my blood.” He then commanded, “Do this in remembrance of me.” #fyp #explorepage #relatable #holyweek #maundythursday [Easter , holy Saturday, Good Friday , Jesus Christ , Christian, Roman Catholic, last supper , crucifixion, Eucharist]
