Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) says he’s not comfortable with lines being blurred between law enforcement and the military in immigration enforcement, as the Fort Bliss military base in Texas is being prepared to hold people in ICE custody. “Long term, I don’t want to see soldiers operating in the space. I don’t think they want to be doing that,” he says.

07AUG25 Trump’s FBI is targeting elected Democrats — not January 6 rioters, not Jeffrey Epstein’s billionaire clients. Just lawmakers who walked out to stop a GOP power grab in Texas. This isn’t law enforcement. It’s political revenge. And it’s un-American. #trump #epstein #jeffreyepstein #texas #gerrymandering #democrats

Heartbreaking Update 💔 Law enforcement in Bexar County, Texas, says it strongly believes the human remains found earlier this week belong to 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos, who went missing on Christmas Eve. Sheriff Javier Salazar said the remains were discovered in a field near her home, in an area that search crews had previously scoured, and that they were wearing clothing consistent with what Camila was last seen in — though official identification and the cause of death are still pending confirmation by the medical examiner. A firearm was reportedly found close to the scene as well. Salazar described the situation as “heartbreaking,” noting that Camila had been facing emotional struggles in the weeks before her disappearance. Investigators have not publicly classified the death as homicide or suicide, and they say it is too early to definitively say what happened. Officials continue to process the scene and await forensic results, while urging anyone with additional information — such as surveillance footage from the area on the morning of Dec. 24 — to come forward. This grim development comes after days of organized search efforts involving the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, Texas EquuSearch volunteers, and community members. As more details emerge from the medical examiner’s analysis, authorities are expected to release additional information about the identity of the remains and the circumstances surrounding the discovery. #camilamendozaolmos #tragedy #missing #breakingnews #news

I’m proud to announce that today the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) formally approved a mediated settlement agreement between Galveston County Sheriff Jimmy Fullen and TCOLE regarding alleged administrative violations and the attempted revocation of Fullen’s peace officer license. Fullen, the Republican nominee for Galveston County Sheriff in the 2024 general election, was the subject of an investigation initiated upon a frivolous complaint from the campaign of his former opponent. This happened shortly after he announced his candidacy in 2023 and well before he was overwhelmingly elected by the voters of Galveston County. Sheriff Fullen fully cooperated with the TCOLE investigation by providing all requested information and documentation. Yet, after a brief interview with a TCOLE investigator, a petition for the revocation of Fullen’s peace officer license was filed by TCOLE. That’s when our legal team went to work. From our perspective, the conduct of the TCOLE investigation raised concerns about possible political influence and also raised questions about TCOLE’s handling of confidential information because we learned updates related to Fullen’s case were being shared with outside parties without prior notification to the Sheriff himself or our legal team. After extensive negotiations, an agreement for a short, retroactive suspension of Fullen’s peace officer license was reached. This mediated agreement, which has now been approved by the TCOLE board, closes the matter completely and will have no impact Sheriff Fullen’s current status as a peace officer or his capacity to manage the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Fullen will continue to do the important work for Galveston County.

On Wednesday June 11, 2025, hundreds of San Antonians took to the streets in protest against the Trump administration’s immigration polices and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Texas. 📰 As the protests are likely to continue, @governorabbott posted how he feels about them on X on Monday, June 10. He wrote, “Between the Austin Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety, more than a dozen protesters were arrested in Austin. Peaceful protesting is legal. But once you cross the line, you will be arrested.”FAFO,” he said on X, which means “f*ck around and find out.” 🚨 Abbott has since deployed the National Guard to San Antonio ahead of the “No Kings Day” protest scheduled for this weekend. “Texas National Guard will be deployed to locations across the state to ensure peace & order. Peaceful protest is legal. Harming a person or property is illegal & will lead to arrest. @texasarmynationalguard will use every tool & strategy to help law enforcement maintain order,” Abbott wrote on X. 📱 🎥: Courtesyof @mauryv210 #sanantonio #sanantoniotx #sanantoniotexas #satx #texas #protest #news #protest #immigration

There have been zero incidents in Texas bathrooms. None. Passing this bill is like filing a ban on Bigfoot—no evidence, no problem to solve. For nearly a decade, law enforcement, faith leaders, and business leaders have said the same: bathroom bans hurt Texans. Thank you to everyone who came to testify. #TxLege #nobathroombill Watch my full speech in my YouTube channel: Rafael Anchia (link in bio)

Across the United States, this week feels intense and historic at the same time. From Minneapolis to the East Coast, a powerful winter storm and ice storm are disrupting daily life—icy roads, freezing temperatures, flight delays, and emergency alerts reminding everyone how serious winter can be in America. As February begins, the nation is also pausing to reflect. Conversations around Martin Luther King Jr. and MLK’s legacy are trending again—about equality, justice, leadership, and the responsibility to stand strong even during difficult times. His message feels especially relevant when communities are tested by weather, pressure, and uncertainty. During these conditions, law enforcement and emergency services are working around the clock, keeping roads safe, responding to accidents, and helping people get through extreme cold. It’s a reminder that behind every storm headline, there are real people showing up for their communities. At the same time, excitement is building nationwide as Super Bowl energy takes over—bringing people together across cities, cultures, and states. Even with freezing winds outside, the country is buzzing with anticipation, conversation, and connection. Cold streets, powerful history, national reflection, and major moments colliding all at once— this is the United States right now. #newyork #snowstorm #miami #florida #texas losangeles California

There needs to be an investigation into the recent shooting in Minneapolis. Anytime there’s a fatal encounter with law enforcement, there’s cause for mourning and grief. We’re not seeing encounters like this in states like Texas. We explain why that’s the case on Verdict, available wherever you get your podcasts.
