FI1. Tyson’s first professional contract was signed at 17
Although most boxers turn pro in their 20s, Tyson was so talented that he signed with manager Jim Jacobs and trainer Cus D'Amato as a teenager — before he even became legally an adult.
2. He was extremely close to pigeons
As a kid, Mike Tyson used to breed and care for pigeons. He even had his first fight because someone killed one of his pigeons. He says pigeons were his "first love" and he still keeps hundreds of them today.

Growing up in Brownsville, Brooklyn, Tyson got involved in street fights and petty crimes very young. His troubled early life shaped his toughness in the ring later.

Tyson once said that despite his terrifying image, his biggest fear was returning to prison. His 3-year sentence in the 1990s deeply traumatized him.
5. He was a huge student of boxing history
Tyson didn’t just rely on strength; he was a boxing nerd. He spent hours studying old boxing legends like Jack Dempsey, Sonny Liston, and Floyd Patterson. Cus D'Amato made him watch films and read books about the psychology of fear and boxing.
6. He trained wearing a 20-pound vest
To build stamina and speed, Tyson would often train with heavy vests and ankle weights. That's partly why he could move so fast for a heavyweight.
7. Tyson made a cameo in a Bollywood movie
In 2022, Mike Tyson appeared in an Indian (Bollywood) movie called Liger. It was a rare move since he almost never acts outside American films.
8. He once owned a tiger — but was attacked by it
Tyson bought three Bengal tigers and kept them as pets. One of them once attacked a woman visiting his home. Tyson admitted later that owning wild animals was "stupid."
9. He went broke after earning over $300 million
Despite making hundreds of millions, Tyson filed for bankruptcy in 2003. Lavish spending, bad investments, and hangers-on drained his fortune.
