They say the adult monkey who dragged Punch was likely the other baby monkey's mother and was annoyed by Punch. God forbid Punch try to make friends. He's an orphan! Hi SAB Fam, today one of our TikTok videos went semi-viral (pretty proud of this after months of being shadow banned) and we noticed a flood of nasty comments, particularly in response to a comment we had pinned: *Support a POC female author check out our cookbook at modernasianbaking.com/preorder…* Responses included: “That makes me definitely not want to buy. 0 point in mentioning your color or gender.” “Why do it matter that they poc female? I would support them if they write a good book, not because they’re a minority.” “Terrible mindset. I was going to check it out cause the bread looks awesome, but then you had tp rely on your race, not your skill, to get followers. “Don’t know why ur being so hostile I see why u gotta race bait people into buying ur shitty book.” Our book is called Modern Asian Baking at Home, pretty obvious an Asian wrote it… oh wait. Just remembered how many best-selling Asian cookbooks there are out there NOT WRITTEN BY ASIANS. As Yashar Ali points out: “In publishing, pre-orders are critical! Pre-ordering is particularly important if the author is a woman, a POC, and/or LGBTQ! Pre-orders can make or break a book, so if you want to show your support here's why you should pre-order. If you want to support someone, pre-order their book. It can have a big impact on the success of their book launch. A book that gets a lot of pre-orders builds buzz. The publisher and booksellers notice. Booksellers are willing to feature the book more prominently. The publisher will put more resources into promoting the book. All of this, obviously, helps the author you want to support!” While my policy is to block and ban racists and bullies, I did not want to be quiet about this. For far too long I’ve been quiet and watched people steal my work, get the promotions meant for me, and gaslight me into think I’m the imposter or never good enough to deserve great things, that I’m no good. After competing on the first season of ‘America’s Got Talent,’ Jessica went on to compete on the 11th season of ‘American Idol’ where she finished as the runner-up. “Throughout the years, I kind of fell out of love of music because I was really young and I was so swayed by what everybody wanted me to be, who they wanted me to be, and so maybe it took me 20 years, but I know exactly who I am. I know exactly what I want. I’m excited to be back,” Jessica explained. Jessica also shared with the judges that she is now married and she recently found out that she’s expecting her first child.
