Tonight sits heavy. I have responded to the IPCA. Calling out their refusal to look again. Pointing out the timeline of events, the misinformation along the way and how on one hand I have been told he was not an informant but on the other a refusal to acknowledge that he was informing and held a relationship with the local authorities. A man like that, does not claim for 40 + years to be a paid police informant and make buddies with the station unless he was gaining something. Trust me, I know it’s in his head. I’m not delusional. But these are the stories he openly boasted and used to inflate his importance. But I also smell the reek of corruption and mutual benefit of being a ‘story teller’ and that my friend is the issue. My abuse was reported to the same officer in 2002 and 2003. Without my knowledge. The station made a choice. And in that choice was opportunity to seek out the next young girl. NZ Police MUST be held accountable for their failings. They MUST respect their role in abusers confidence. And they MUST face consequences for knowingly leaving me with a violent man. Here's what the analysis says: - Most victims were under 18 years old, reaching 100% in 2025. Infants and very young children were repeatedly recorded as victims, including a 6-month-old in 2018 and a 6-year-old in 2025. (Note: 3 cases in 2025 did not state the ages of the victim/survivors in the summing, judgement, and sentencing. These cases were not factored into this analysis.) - Offences were overwhelmingly committed by men, aged 25 to 42 years across the ten-year period. - Between 50% and 78% of cases involved perpetrators known to the victim, often within domestic or familiar settings. In 2025, 78% of victims were related to the perpetrator. - Average custodial sentences ranged from 8.2 years (2022) to 13.4 years (2020), with 2025 averaging 9.72 years (116.7 months), reflecting consistently significant sentences. - Over the ten-year period, cases took on average 2.8 years to reach judgment, ranging from 2.5 to 3.1 years, showing that survivors often wait 2–3 years for their cases to be decided.
