AUJob interview can be difficult for anyone.
I wish any amount of scripting, practice, and rehearsal would be able to level the playing field. But its truly a challenge to drown out the noise, read the tone, body language, and implied meanings behind some questions.
Autistic job hunters are much less likely to get hired, and that's something I've found true for me in my job hunt. When i follow up, I often find I was the runner up or the second pick. I've always felt like i had so much more to offer than I have been allowed to show or give and sometimes I just wish I'd be given a chance to demonstrate the excellent work I can do. And not excellent *for an autistic*, just excellent full stop.
Being chronically ill and recovering from sepsis and going through major burn out make working a near impossibility, but I have been no contact with my family for years and lack many other options that would offer any real stability right now especially in any sort of time sensitive way.
I really needed this interview to go well even though I had no idea how I was gonna complete the tasks necessary for the position. I felt like my head was in a great place to interview minutes before but it all collapsed when I tried to speak.
It can be difficult to hope when there is little evidence that we should, but part of me really needs that false sense of security that all will work out because without it I can't work up the gumption to email networking potentials back or drive to these interviews.
It will work out... because it has to. There isn't another option.
