Adventurers wanted, but don’t say we didn’t warn you. Views like this have to be earned, so grab your water bottle and head to Black’s Beach via the staircase on Citizens Trail at the Torrey Pines Gliderport, where the effort is great but the payoff is greater. Sturdy shoes are a must, as are a desire for dramatic scenery and a wanderlust for intensity. This one is tough, but with a tremendous reward. Ho Chi Minh Trail (Saigon Trail) is a short hike in La Jolla that takes you through a dirt path, small slot canyon, and narrow pathways all with a stunning ocean view. The hike is .6 miles then sits out onto Blacks Beach where you can recover while you listen to the ocean waves and watch the surfers. We started at La Jolla shores so it made our walk much longer but it is up to preference! This is challenging and I would recommend hiking shoes as there are some slippery spots. There’s a rope at the end to get down to the beach so be prepared as I definitely was struggling to stay upright! This hike is worth while and it’s a fun one! Another cool thing to note is the Mushroom House (end of reel) which was owned by the owner of Bell Potato Chips years ago. There’s some really cool history on it! Be sure to check it out. . . You can use All Trails that will guide you one this hike- worked perfectly for us! . .
