Most candidates go into MBB interviews blind to one thing: the types of questions interviewers actually ask. Top firms - McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Deloitte - don’t just test business knowledge. They test how you think. Here are the core question types you need to prepare for: 1️⃣ Market Sizing & Estimation – Can you break a big number into smaller, logical chunks? 2️⃣ Profitability / Business Problem Cases – What’s driving the problem, and how would you solve it? 3️⃣ Strategy & Market Entry – How would you evaluate entering a new market? 4️⃣ Mergers & Acquisitions / Investment Decisions – Can you weigh trade-offs and risks effectively? 5️⃣ Behavioural / Fit Questions – Times you led, adapted, or handled ambiguity. 💡 The secret? These aren’t just questions - they’re patterns. Firms watch how you structure, prioritize, and communicate more than your final answer. Looking for the right guidance to get consulting offers? Comment 'MBB' and I will share the details in your DM.

STAGE 3 — 2nd Round: Case & Fit (2–5 interviews) If you pass round one, you move into a similar structure… with one key shift: Your interviewers are more senior and have been at the firm longer. Often: • managers • principals • partners Number of interviews varies by firm and office. A common structure at top firms is: • 2 interviews in round one • 2–3 interviews in round two Sometimes there’s even a round three — not common, but it happens. Then comes the final step: STAGE 4 — Offer letter Someone will contact you by email or phone with the result. It could be: • the recruiter who started the process • or the partner who interviewed you that day If you want a quick video call where we share exactly how we break into top consulting firms (and the exact resume + networking + interview system we use), comment OFFER below and we’ll send it to you. 90% candidates don’t fail guesstimates because they’re bad at math. They fail because they’re bad at STRUCTURE. Consulting interviews are not testing your calculator skills. They’re testing how you think under uncertainty. If you can: ✔ Clarify the problem ✔ Break it into logical buckets ✔ Make smart assumptions ✔ Do clean math You’re already ahead of 80% of applicants. I’ve seen brilliant candidates struggle — and average candidates crack it — just because they followed a framework. Save this reel before your next case interview. And comment “GUESTIMATE” if you want a full solved example next. The biggest case interview mistake? Talking too soon. Most candidates rush to impress. The best candidates pause to understand. Case interviews aren’t about speed. They’re about structure. Clarify. Contextualize. Identify pain points. Then solve. That’s how you stand out. If you’re preparing for product, consulting, or strategy roles: this will change how you approach cases forever. Great informational calls feel natural. They are: • Genuine • Curious • Human Not: ❌ Pitches ❌ Resume walkthroughs ❌ Forced selling Your intro should take under 3 minutes. Ask thoughtful questions. Listen more than you talk. After the call: ✔ Send a thank-you within 24 hours ✔ Share key takeaways ✔ Ask if it’s okay to stay in touch Don’t over-network. Only follow up when you have real updates or value to add. The more effort they see you making, the more likely they’ll advocate for you. “I’m making more than I was before, so I should be grateful.” Comment " $100K " and I will send the link to the full video where I break down how to research your value and negotiate with confidence. That mindset kept me underpaid for years. When I finally started getting job offers, I was so relieved that I accepted the first number they gave me. No negotiation. No research. No idea what my market value actually was. If I was earning $25/hr and someone offered $29/hr? I said yes immediately. Because in my mind, more money = success. But I wasn’t asking: What is someone with my experience supposed to be making? I was stacking salaries instead of evaluating market positioning. That decision slowed my path to six figures by about seven years. Seven. And the worst part? I didn’t even know I was underpricing myself. If you’re in a season where offers are finally coming in, this is when strategy matters most. #CareerAdvice #SalaryGrowth #NegotiationSkills #ProfessionalDevelopment

You don’t have to accept “this is just how the market is.” Yes, the market is tight. Yes, hiring is slower. And yes, some things are outside your control. But that doesn’t mean nothing is. What I see most often isn’t people failing in a bad market. It’s people doing a lot of work without a clear strategy. When the market shifts, the way you position yourself has to shift too. Not louder. Not harder. Clearer. Clear on where you’re a strong match. Clear on what decision is actually being made. Clear on how your experience is being interpreted. That clarity doesn’t change the market. But it does change your outcomes inside it. The Career Diagnostic exists for this exact moment. To help you see what’s working, what’s misaligned, and what’s actually worth adjusting. The market may be tough. But you’re not powerless in it. 🤍 #interviewprep #careercoach #interviewtips #careersuccess

How offers are decided (and how many people are hired) In consulting, there’s often a soft (not hard) quota per office — and that number can change through the year based on business needs, deferrals, declines, and office-level targets. Meaning: if an office “has five slots” but the interviewers feel there are six exceptional people… the sixth person isn’t automatically thrown out. The bottom line: You’re not competing with every person in your interview day. You’re trying to pass the bar. And the bar is captured by one question we call the MBB Test: “Do I feel comfortable putting this person in front of my client?” Would a partner feel comfortable putting you in front of a CEO they spent 20 years building a relationship with? If the answer is “they’ll add value,” you’re in. If there’s hesitation about your readiness to be alone with that CEO, you won’t get the offer. Rubric behind the MBB Test 1. Ability to do the job Can you problem-solve, think like a consultant, add value? 2. Client readiness Demeanor, confidence, soft skills — do we feel safe putting you client-side? 3. Fit Is this someone we want to work with? 4. Coachability Can we give you feedback easily? No matter your level, there’s a steep learning curve — interviewers ask if you’ll learn fast. You need all four to come together to pass the MBB Test. If you don’t land an offer the first time because you didn’t pass the MBB Test, don’t give up — pick an opportunity that strengthens the same signals: problem-solving, team impact, and measurable results. If you want a quick video call where we share exactly how we break into top consulting firms (and the exact resume + networking + interview system we use), comment OFFER below and we’ll send it to you. STAGE 2 — 1st Round: Case & Fit (1–3 interviews) Round 1 is typically a mix of: • case interview • fit interview …and sometimes something extra. Some firms add an additional step like an HR phone screen either in round one or before round one. That screen often checks: • you’ve done research • you understand the role • you’re a fit to proceed Who interviews you? Usually: • analysts • consultants • managers Occasionally: principals / partners depending on firm and office. Most common structure: 1–3 interviews in round one, one-on-one.
