KO🚼 Army crawling, also known as belly or commando crawling, can be seen with babies between 6-8 months. Babies will use their arms to pull themselves forward on their tummy.
Hands and knees crawling should then emerge around 8-10 months. While army crawling is a stepping stone to hands and knees crawling, it is something to address if army crawling continues at 10 months without sign of progression to hands and knees crawling.
❕Here are some other tips to help progress to hands and knees crawling:
* Try tall kneel at a supportive surface (think mirrors or toys on a coffee table)
* Play with hands and knees over your leg or rolled blanket to build arm and hip strength
* Encourage crawling over mini obstacles like pillows or even your leg!
* Offer side-sitting play to balance both sides
🚨 After about 2 weeks of practicing these tips, if there’s no improvement OR if baby is still arkyncrawling at 10 months, it might be time for a professional’s insight! Once babies learn this version of crawling and get efficient at it, it’s hard to break them out of the habit however it IS possible 🫶🏼
