This piece began its life as a conch shell, shaped by the ocean and time. Long after the shell was left behind, nature continued her work, creating the perfect conditions for vivianite to slowly grow within it.
Vivianite forms only in very specific environments, often where organic material and mineral-rich water meet. Inside the shell’s natural chambers, crystal growth took over, transforming a space once made for life into one that holds something entirely new.

MOYou've probably heard this sound at Hindu temples or even inside your own home during prayer time. That's the conch shell or "shankh" being blown. I used to think that it served the same purpose as ringing the ghanti (bell), but there's more to it.
Hindus believe the conch shell produces a sacred sound that purifies the environment and drives away negative energy. The sound is thought to invoke divine presence and create positive vibrations that enhance the prayer experience.
There's also a practical side - the deep Om-like sound produced by the conch is believed to have therapeutic effects. Blowing it requires controlled breathing, which can be meditative and help focus the mind for prayer.
In Hinduism, the conch represents the cosmic sound of creation. So when you blow it during prayers, you're essentially recreating that primordial sound that brought the universe into existence.

when handbuilding it prior, it almost nearly impossible to test sound because its drying stage & fragility.
with other clay instruments it’s easier to test sounds prior, but also take note that all clay will shrink in size at least half a note when going through the firings ༄
