In 1997, a 17 year old named Daniel Malmedahl recorded himself imitating a two stroke engine in his bedroom in Sweden, creating a sound file called 2TAKTARE that quietly spread across early internet forums and file sharing sites.
Years later, animator Erik Wernquist turned it into a character that became Crazy Frog, eventually leading to the 2005 global hit Axel F and one of the most recognizable sounds in internet and dance music history.
