Balancing Frequency & Time Response Acoustic optimization isn’t about achieving a perfectly flat frequency response—it’s about balance. Through modeling, modal peaks can be significantly reduced while preserving a natural response curve. Above the Schroeder frequency, this balance becomes especially critical, as absorption behaves very differently across upper bass, lower midrange, and high frequencies. If treatments are not properly modeled, rooms often become overly absorptive at higher frequencies while remaining uncontrolled in the lower midrange—one of the main reasons absorptive rooms are perceived as “dead” or unnatural. Redi Acoustics addresses this by simulating broadband treatments designed to achieve a consistent decay time across frequencies. The goal is uniform sound decay—so reflections at 3 kHz fade at roughly the same rate as those at 300 Hz or 1 kHz—resulting in clarity, articulation, and tonal balance. Lessons I've Learned The internal absorption material is one of the most important parts of an acoustic panel. Materials used for treatment must allow sound energy to pass into the material and dissipate through friction within the fiber structure. High-density mineral wool has published absorption data and is widely used in acoustic applications because it absorbs sound across a broad frequency range. Panels built with high-density rockwool absorb significantly more sound energy than thin foam or felt products. Foam and felt typically absorb only a limited portion of mid and high frequencies and have little effect on lower frequencies. Rockwool has greater density and depth, which allows sound waves to travel into the material and lose energy as they pass through the fibers. This allows the panel to absorb a wider range of frequencies present in music and speech. Go to JOHN HUNTER ACOUSTICS DOT COM FRONT PAGE to schedule a 1-on-1 consultation. Define Room Size & Dimensions Before advanced simulations begin, the room’s size and basic proportions must be defined. It’s not practical, or affordable, to simulate every possible room configuration. The process starts with a realistic size and shape that aligns acoustic performance with construction constraints. To support this early-stage decision, Redi Acoustics developed ROCS, a tool designed to help define room dimensions and listening position before construction begins. In architectural acoustics, clarity is never accidental — it is engineered. From reverberation control to sound distribution, every element of hall design directly impacts how the audience experiences sound. Proper geometry, surface treatment, and acoustic planning ensure consistent coverage and optimal speech intelligibility across the entire space. Because in performance spaces, sound must be designed — not left to chance. — AV Acoustics #architecturalacoustics #acousticengineering #hallacoustics #reverberationtime #sounddistribution speechintelligibility

Identify Acoustic Consultants Designing a listening room starts long before construction begins. Before foundations are laid or dimensions are finalized, choosing the right acoustic consultants is a critical first step. In this project, the listening room wasn’t adapted to the building, the building was designed around the listening room. Redi Acoustics was selected for its proprietary computational approach, allowing speaker placement, listener position, and room treatments to be evaluated before construction, significantly reducing costly trial-and-error later on. We Treat Any Space Over the 17 years we've been in business, we've treated everything from tiny vocal booths to huge churches. Every space has different acoustic needs and different issues to solve. That's why we never want to place acoustic panels randomly, but rather start with a consultation to make sure the treatment you're getting is the right plan for your space. Offices, venues, studios, home theaters, and restaurants all have different challenges to overcome to get the sound really dialed in and under control. Our consultation is free with any purchase so you know you're getting your acoustic treatment right the first time. Go to JOHN HUNTER ACOUSTICS DOT COM FRONT PAGE to schedule a 1-on-1 consultation. #basstraps #acousticpanels #studioinspiration #recordingstudio #bestacousticpanels #soundpanels

Why the name 21dB? The name traces back to a moment in an anechoic chamber at the University of Salford, where Fouad recorded the sound of his whisper, measured at 21 decibels. 21dB became a symbol of how quiet sound can be and how deeply it can still be felt. @quantumfield.ai
Acoustic levitation relies on the formation of standing sound waves between two surfaces—typically a sound emitter (like a loudspeaker) and a reflector placed above it. When sound waves of very high frequency are emitted upwards and reflected back, they interfere with the incoming waves. If the distance between the emitter and reflector is an exact multiple of half the sound’s wavelength, constructive interference occurs. This interference creates standing waves—patterns of alternating high-pressure and low-pressure regions that remain fixed in space. The high-pressure regions (antinodes) can exert enough force to counteract gravity on very light objects. As a result, these objects can be suspended or "levitated" at specific points in the wave field without touching any surface. The stability of this levitation depends entirely on maintaining the correct distance between the speaker and reflector. A slight change in this spacing disrupts the standing wave, causing the pressure zones to collapse and the object to fall. Optical methods like Schlieren imaging can make these pressure variations visible, revealing bands that correspond to the standing wave’s nodes and antinodes. Each visible band typically represents a half-wavelength of the sound wave. Applications include non-contact handling in pharmaceuticals, clean manipulation of biological samples, and simulating microgravity for space research. It is also used in material science to study crystallization and protein structures without container interference. Recent advancements include 3D acoustic manipulation using phased arrays, levitating irregular objects and liquids, and creating portable levitation devices. Researchers are also increasing load capacity and integrating AI for precise, automated material handling.
