Many people are surprised by this but… I love modeling negative language! For early gestalt language processors (children who communicate with delayed echolalia), we need to be modeling more potential gestalts (scripts/chunks of language) and more variety. One of those being protesting or negative language. Why? It builds autonomy, reduces frustration, supports regulation and gives children a safer alternative to dysregulation. Modeling only requests or things that you want to hear as a communication partner limits their natural language development. Ready to get started? Consider a course or our updated GLP Handbook for Coaching and Education. Spanish and English versions or bundle them both! Recently updated so we have a parent and professional version! Comment “HANDBOOK” for more info. Want to learn more about supporting early stage gestalt language processors? Movement doesn’t mean disengaged. For many gestalt language processors, sensory input supports attention. It helps them stay present. It helps them process. Listening doesn’t have to mean a calm body. If you’ve ever wondered what’s vocal play, what’s echolalia, what’s regulation, and what it all means for language development, we’ve been posting on the topic all week long. Want to learn more? 👇🏼 💙 Start with our free 54-minute Masterclass on Echolalia & Child-Led Therapy. Comment “MASTERCLASS” and we’ll send the link. 💛 Ready to go deeper? Enroll in our in-depth Meaningful Speech course on Gestalt Language Development & Natural Language Acquisition. Comment “COURSE” and we’ll send the link.
