PE1. Val Bregaglia
Locals name this instead of Lauterbrunnen. A quiet alpine valley near the Italian border: stone villages, waterfalls, and total calm. Coffee costs 3–4 CHF instead of 7–8 in tourist hotspots. You hear cowbells, not camera shutters.
2. Zernez
A small village near Engadin where Swiss people go to “breathe.” No luxury boutiques — just hiking trails, the Inn River, and wooden houses. Locals say: if you want real Alps, skip St. Moritz and come here.
3. Vallée de Joux
The land of watchmakers and lakes. Hardly any tourists, postcard-level nature. Swimming and cycling in summer, cross-country skiing in winter. Accommodation is much cheaper than around Lake Geneva.
4. Alpstein
Considered one of Switzerland’s most underrated regions. Views just as dramatic as Bernese Oberland, but without crowds. Mountain huts serve local food at local prices.

A biosphere reserve near the Italian border. Few cars, weak signal, and a feeling that time slowed down. Locals say: “If you want silence, go where there’s no advertising.”
