Exponential functions describe quantities that change by constant percentages rather than constant amounts. They take the form f(x) = a·b^x, where a is the initial value and b is the base. When b > 1, the function represents exponential growth, and when 0 < b < 1, it represents exponential decay. This means the function’s value multiplies by the same factor for each increase in x, producing a smooth curve that rises or falls quickly and approaches, but never touches, the x-axis. These functions appear in many real-world situations, such as population growth, compound interest, and radioactive decay, where change accelerates or slows over time. Their distinctive shape and consistent rate of change make exponential functions essential for modeling rapid processes and predicting how quantities evolve in both natural and human-made systems. I’ve always believed that understanding why each step works is far more meaningful than simply memorizing procedures. That’s why I enjoy using Brilliant - their interactive lessons don’t just hand you the answer; they help you uncover the reasoning behind it. When you get to manipulate the equations yourself and actually see how each transformation impacts the result, the concept becomes intuitive and memorable. It’s that hands-on exploration that transforms math from something you follow into something you truly understand. Logarithms turn outputs back into inputs - they’re the inverse of exponentials. In this short explainer, we reflect y = 2^x in y = x, derive x = log₂(y), solve 2^x = 10, and show the change-of-base trick for your calculator. Euler’s formula is one of those math ideas that feels almost too perfect to be real. It says that e to the power of i times x equals cos(x) plus i times sin(x). That might sound a bit technical, but what it really does is connect three very different parts of math—exponentials, imaginary numbers, and trigonometry—all in one clean equation. It shows up all over the place, from electrical engineering to quantum physics, and helps make sense of how waves and rotations work in the complex plane. One of the coolest things about Euler’s formula is what happens when you plug in pi for x. You get e^(i * pi) + 1 = 0. Somehow, this simple equation brings together five of the most important numbers in math: e, i, pi, 1, and 0. It’s often called the most beautiful equation in mathematics, and for good reason—it’s like finding a hidden connection between totally different parts of the universe. Even people who don’t usually get excited about math are kind of blown away by how neat it is. In mathematics, the exponential function is the unique real function which maps zero to one and has a derivative equal to its value. The exponential of a variable x is denoted exp(x) or eˣ, with the two notations used interchangeably. It is called exponential because its argument can be seen as an exponent to which a constant number e ≈ 2.718, the base, is raised. There are several other definitions of the exponential function, which are all equivalent although being of very different nature. In mathematics, the Taylor series or Taylor expansion of a function is an infinite sum of terms that are expressed in terms of the function's derivatives at a single point. For most common functions, the function and the sum of its Taylor series are equal near this point. Taylor series are named after Brook Taylor, who introduced them in 1715. A Taylor series is also called a Maclaurin series when 0 is the point where the derivatives are considered, after Colin Maclaurin, who made extensive use of this special case of Taylor series in the 18th century. ✨️video’s code Link in bio- easy, fully explained & customizable. ✨ The hidden beauty of mathematics is everywhere. This is the language of the universe, speaking in curves, waves, and shapes. 🤯 From the simple elegance of a linear function to the majestic arc of a parabola... from the cyclical dance of trigonometric waves to the complex stories told by parametric equations... this is what math looks like when it comes to life! 📈➗🌌 Which one is your favorite? ➖ Linear Equations: The foundation of it all. Straightforward and powerful. 🔄 Quadratic Functions: The classic parabola. Predicting the path of a ball, the structure of a satellite dish. 📐 Trig Functions (Sin, Cos, Tan): The heartbeat of circles, waves, and oscillations. Sound, light, and the seasons all dance to a trigonometric tune. 🌀 Parametric Equations: Where x and y tell their own stories with a parameter (like time). This is how we model orbits, rollercoasters, and beautiful curves! #mathteacher #equation #fyp #views #likeme #math
