Just the sound of cattle being cattle. 🤎 But since this is a feedlot… let’s talk about a few things most people don’t know. • Feedlots are not “factory farms.” They’re finishing yards where cattle spend the last 4 to 6 months of their lives after spending the majority of their time on pasture. • Cattle are seen by trained pen riders and animal health crews daily. If one animal looks off, it’s pulled, evaluated, and treated individually. • Every treatment has a strict withdrawal time regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration to ensure beef entering the food supply is safe. • Feed is carefully formulated by nutritionists to balance energy, protein, fiber, and minerals. It’s not random. It’s science. • Water access is constant. Shade and wind protection are common. Comfort impacts performance, and performance impacts livelihood. Over 95 percent of U.S. cattle operations are family owned and operated. That includes feedyards. It’s easy to criticize a system you’ve never walked through.
