✨Dynamic stretches for running✨ Filmed this dynamic stretch video a few weeks ago. These types of stretches can be done as a part of the warm up before any workout. Personally, I like to do them before longer runs or aerobic intervals. Here is a list of the exercises: 1. Walking knee to chest 2. Hamstring stretch 3. Single leg RDL stretch 4. Superman stretch 5. Inchworm 6. Lateral lunges 7. Straight leg kicks 8. Lunge + twist PS. They commonly mimic the exercise you are about to perform. Common dynamic stretches are performed for 30-45 seconds each and include: the world’s greatest stretch, the pigeon and cat cow. 💡STATIC Static stretching not only can help improve your flexibility, and aids recovery; it is best performed after a workout as a cool down when muscles are still warm. The most common static stretches are held for between 20-30 seconds each and include: the butterfly stretch, cobra stretch and the hamstring stretch.

This 16 minute session is something you can do 3+ times a week to feel good and move even better. As we age less is more in a lot of ways. Less high volume and ego lifting and more mobility and recovery will actually deliver better results despite what your ego is telling you. A planned out structured approach will always be more effective. Get this one done this weekend👇🏻 Perform each exercise for 50 seconds followed by 10 seconds rest in between exercise. Do 2 sets with only 10 seconds rest in between sets. 1. Spider Lunge Stretch w/ T Frame (L) 2. Spider Lunge Stretch w/ T Frame (R) 3. Down Dog Toe Touchers 4. Childs Pose to Pigeon 5. This might seem to be about movement but it’s just as much about stability - because I can’t have one without the other. I really like how this sequence highlights the relationships between shoulders, core and hips. There’s even an opportunity for a bit of a hamstring stretch and a pivoting challenge. . All of this came out of a challenge from my dear friend @diannebondyyogaofficial to interpret a sliding drill typically done with parallettes. I was curious see what I could do without equipment and I had fun with what emerged. Repost @littletfitness SKILL DRILL SATURDAY 3 Beginner friendly split stretches to add into your routine! If you don’t have boxes you can use any elevated surface. (Chair, stool, dumbbells, bench) As you progress through your splits journey you can change the height of what you’re using. 1) front leg elevated hamstring stretch: flexing the foot on the box and reaching as far forward as possible. When reaching forward avoid rounding the back so that you’re getting the best possible stretch in your hamstring 2) front leg elevated front lunge stretch: hips are square and back leg is straight. Keeping your posture upright lean into the box so you can feel the stretch in your hip flexor 3) Self spot split: Supporting yourself as you reach your max split position. At the beginning the back/ front leg might be bent but as you progress you’ll slide down into a full split Hold each stretch for 1 minute and repeat 2-3 times! There are lots of other progressions that can be done which can be found on my app or YouTube channel!
