I took this route with a toxic employer because I knew I was looking for another job and FMLA would protect the current job I had in the event I needed to temporarily go back ☝🏽 1. It’s true- this is UNPAID so you will need to be sure you have enough PTO saved to cover your time out or a good savings to support you 2. You can qualify for FMLA by simply telling your doctor that you have anxiety or even get panic attacks due to work stress 3. Contact your company’s EAP program and utilize the free therapy sessions and speak towards how work is the reason you need therapy Now you’ve created a paper trail- see what I did here 😉 4. This can be taken effective immediately and your manager legally cannot ask you when you are returning 5. This is also good if you don’t want to take the full 12 weeks. You can use this intermittently to protect you on days that you call out, need to come in late or need to leave early. And again - your manager can’t question you on this. They must work with your HR partner the moment you take you leave! FMLA stands for family medical leave act and it protects you from being fired if you need to leave work for a medical condition (anxiety, depression, stress disorders, or whatever else a licensed professional diagnoses) I am coming up on my one year anniversary of when I took FMLA from my stressful job and I absolutely needed it. Actually you can take one every year if you need to. And girl with everything going on in the world, wars layoffs, parenting, relationships things can just get tough.. trust me I get it😭😩 While I was on my leave, I literally did nothing some days and I had to remind myself that was OK. You don’t always have to be performing or striving. I sat on my porch and colored in my coloring book, which I hadn’t done since I was a child.. I spent time with myself journaling, and I went to therapy. I also looked for a new job! I just poured in myself so that when I returned to work, I wouldn’t be running on E And it helped a time, even though I was returning into the same environment I can definitely say I was less affected by people and their drama than I was before 10/10 recommend 🤗🥳🙌🏾 #mentalhealth #fmla #corporateamerica #career #careerwoman

That’s the law. 📋 Are you eligible? ✅ Worked for your employer for at least 12 months ✅ Logged at least 1,250 hours in the past year ✅ Work at a location with 50+ employees within 75 miles 👍🏽Yes, perimenopause and menopause qualify❗️ Brain fog so bad you forget your own name by noon. Anxiety that shows up uninvited like that one coworker who schedules 4pm Friday meetings. Sleep deprivation that makes you a walking safety hazard. These are legitimate medical conditions — document them, report them, and get the protection you deserve. Intermittent vs. Continuous Leave 🗓️ Intermittent — a few hours here, a half day there, specific days as needed for symptom flares or appointments. You don’t have to disappear to be protected.
