Hi!! Here's a recap of what we did in one of our Power Flow classes ✨️ Biggest tip that have changed my crow jump backs is to think CHEST FORWARD as the legs shoot back. We're moving those heavy legs back in a jump back so there needs to be a counter force towards the opposite direction. This is honestly a tough move so you would need a solid Crow and Chaturanga in place. Always work on stability before transitions :) If you're new to this, conserve energy by practising the following: 💡 Squat to Chaturanga Start mid-mat, extend the arms forward. Pull your chest forward to bend the arms and step one foot back at a time. Repeat by bringing both feet back at the same time. 💡 Crow + Single Leg Jump Backs It's always lighter to just extend one leg. The arms also wouldn't be bent as much in this drill, giving you more control and stability. Repeat with both legs, committing to fully extend those legs. Flexing the feet in your crow before you jump back can sometimes help prep the body to get ready for chaturanga too! You'll probably have the legs halfway back the first few times you do this. Give yourself a pat on the back for the effort. When I was learning to do this I’d just got a tattoo on my foot and it actually rubbed a bit from all the times my foot scraped on my mat :) Here’s three tips to help: ☀️ Start by shifting your weight back and looking forward to a point on the floor ahead of your mat ☀️ As you jump keep your knees into your torso ☀️Press down through your hands for extra lift Keep trying & have fun …. The jumpback can be a very lifted floaty situation, or it can look many a different way to make it work. My go-to jumpback is a boat pose roll over situation. 😅 I can access a “proper” jump through only when using blocks to add height between me and the earth.
