This is based on my Endworld AU on ao3 👼 but you can take it however you want!!
In Endworld AU, after Darkseid takes over and the Titans are wiped out, Kon finds himself working for LexCorp (and Darkseid by extension). Some of his internal beliefs he struggles with are that everyone he loves dies because of him, that he needs to earn the shield and his place in the world by being useful. He was created as a tool, he felt like nobody wanted him or saw him as a person, and the ppl who did were killed. So he really thinks working for Lex again is the only way he can help what’s left of a broken world, that at least he’s preventing MORE loss and giving people (false) hope, esp as resistance efforts fail. That, and he was kinda manipulated/tortured into it at his weakest point, but that’s a spoiler 🥀 He joins Raven and Damian, but abuse tends to cycle back. Apokolips isn’t done with him.

In that moment, Connor stops being something created.
He becomes someone chosen.
This isn’t just Superman accepting Superboy.
It’s Superman healing.
Letting himself have family again.
And that might be his greatest strength of all.
