🍎 Once a week, we’ve been having seasonally themed homeschool mornings, and it only felt right to start with an apple theme! Here’s what we explored together: 1️⃣ Apple Cutting & Washing – My toddler used a fruit wash spray to scrub the apples clean, then transferred them onto a towel to dry. He loved using his own toddler cutting board and wooden knife to cut them into cubes for a snack paired with peanut butter. 2️⃣ Apple Pie Sensory Bin – We made “apple pie filling” with oatmeal, red pebbles as apple chunks, and a mix of seeds. He filled his pie crust and “baked” it in his play kitchen oven — the imagination was flowing! 3️⃣ Anatomy of an Apple – After reading a book on the parts of an apple, we used a sensory apple stone to identify each part. Then we “dissected” a real apple and placed the pieces on a labeled poster — this one was a HIT! 4️⃣ Fill the Baskets – A fun counting and number recognition activity using a dot marker to fill each basket with the right number of apples - also great for fine motor skills and focus! Number Representation M really loves numbers and it’s important to not just look at huge numbers at a surface level. So we have been looking at numbers to 10 more in depth. We got this epic Montessori clothes line from @kindtokidz and I instantly had an idea! For this activity we also used giant counting trays that you can find at Kind to Kidz as well. M traced the number and used tongs to count out the pom-poms. Then, using resources from @learningwiththehive she needed to find all of the different representations of that number. Bonus fine motor work happening here with the tongs and the pegs! Is this something you would try? Let me know below!
