Start your day with a stunning coastal walk into Looe—around 15 minutes from Plaidy via the South West Coast Path. Stretch your legs and take in the sea air!
☕ Stop at Daisy’s for a delicious breakfast or head to Dunks for a Cruffin and a locally roasted Cornish coffee.
Late Morning 🦀
Explore the old town’s narrow streets—filled with local shops and galleries—and try your hand at crabbing from the harbour wall (great fun for kids and adults alike!).
Lunch 🍽
Grab a Cornish pasty from Sarah’s Pasties and a slice of something sweet from their cake shop. Or head to Portbyhan Hotel for a riverside meal with views.
Afternoon 🌊
Walk along to Hannafore for rockpooling and coastal views, or hop in the car for a quick trip to Kilminorth Woods for a shady woodland walk.
Evening 🎣
Pick up fish & chips from Ben’s Plaice or the Coddy Shack, and enjoy them back at your cottage or on the beach.
🍹 Fancy a tipple? Find GG’s beer garden and cocktail bar tucked away behind the Golden Guinea – dog friendly and often with live music!
💤 Then back to your cosy cottage to unwind and enjoy the sound of the sea.

HAPart 1 of my favourite places to visit in Cornwall 🌊
1. St Ives - One of the prettiest towns in England and a firm favourite on any Cornwall itinerary. St Ives is home to a lovely fishing harbour surrounded by old fisherman houses, and it has everything you need for a holiday in Cornwall.
2. Pentire Poppies - The most beautiful sea of poppies across a wildflower meadow overlooking Crantock Beach near Newquay on the north Cornwall coast. Owned by the National Trust, visits can admire the poppies (do not walk amongst them) whilst enjoying a gorgeous coastal walk to Polly Joke Beach. If you have the energy, I recommend walking to Holywell Bay, another gorgeous beach in Cornwall.
3. Perranporth - A great day trip from Newquay, or a place to base yourself, Perranporth felt like the perfect slice of Australia, just with fish and chips and colder water. Famous for its tidal pool (Chapel Rock), Perranporth Beach offers 3 miles of golden sand.
4. Gwithian Beach - My favourite sunset spot in Cornwall, Gwithian Beach is located near located near Hayle, just north of St Ives. The beach is long and sandy, spreading across 3-4 miles with excellent surfing conditions.
5. Kynance Cove - one of the most famous beaches in England, let alone Cornwall. Kynance Cove is an excellent reward after a walk down the hill! This iconic beach on the Lizard Peninsula is renowned for its white sand, turquoise waters, and dramatic, red-and-green serpentine rock formations

ALDon’t get me wrong, it’s stunning. The coastline, the light, the slower pace. But there’s another side that doesn’t always make it onto your feed.
1️⃣ Being Cornish isn’t just an identity , it’s heritage.
For many people here, being Cornish is deeply rooted in family history, culture and pride. It’s not just “where they’re from”, it’s who they are.
2️⃣ If you’re not from here, you’ll feel it.
In some areas, building connections can take time. You might always be known as “up country” or “the one who moved down.” It’s not always unkind, just protective of what’s theirs.
3️⃣ It’s not always postcard perfect.
Yes, the beaches are beautiful. But sometimes you’ll also see litter and the impact of heavy tourism. The reality isn’t always filtered.
4️⃣ Beauty and hardship exist side by side.
There are peaceful villages and dreamlike coves, but there’s also visible poverty in some communities. Cornwall isn’t just a holiday destination; it’s home to people navigating real challenges.
5️⃣ The housing crisis is real.
For many locals, low wages and high house prices can make buying a home incredibly difficult. What looks like a “dream move” for some can make things harder for others.
I’m sharing this with respect and not criticism. Cornwall is complex, proud, beautiful, and struggling in places. And that’s worth talking about too.
