GL1. You do not need surgery to remove a dermal. The correct term is “surgical removal,” but it’s a minor procedure involving a small incision beneath the epidermis. The area can be numbed to reduce pain and make removal more comfortable.
2. Dermals are semi-permanent. They can last months or even years, but your body may naturally reject foreign objects over time. This is because your skin cells multiply daily, which can cause dermals to “sink in” or become covered by new skin growth.
3. Aftercare is everything. Clean the area at least 3 times a day. Wear loose-fitting clothes and avoid friction. Whenever you’re doing any rigorous movements—especially within the first 3–4 weeks—make sure to cover and protect your dermals to help them heal securely using a bandaid.
