Press Conference Complaint Allegation of Large-Scale Corruption in PAF Compensation under Frontier Highway (NH-913) in Bichom District
The All Arunachal RTI Activist Association (AARTIAA), Bichom District Unit, today addressed a press conference to lodge a serious public interest complaint regarding large-scale corruption, manipulation, and irregularities in the disbursement of compensation to Project Affected Families (PAFs) under the Frontier Highway Project (NH-913).
The alleged irregularities pertain specifically to the stretch from NH-913 (___ Mile) to Lada, covering Package-1, Package-2, Package-3 and Package-4 under Bichom District, Arunachal Pradesh.
The Association alleged that:
Compensation has been distributed in a non-transparent and arbitrary manner
Several genuine PAFs have been deprived of their rightful compensation
Ineligible beneficiaries have allegedly received compensation
There are indications of record manipulation, inflated claims, and misuse of public funds
Concerned departments and officials have failed to follow due process, verification norms, and land records
The Association stated that such acts not only violate the principles of natural justice and transparency, but also amount to a serious breach of public trust, causing hardship to affected families and loss to the state exchequer.
Seven-Day Ultimatum to the Government
In view of the gravity of the matter, the All Arunachal RTI Activist Association, Bichom District Unit, has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to:
Order a high-level independent inquiry into the PAF compensation process
Suspend officials found prima facie involved during the inquiry
Make public all compensation records, beneficiary lists, and verification reports
Ensure immediate rectification and redistribution of compensation to genuine PAFs
Take strict legal action against those involved in corruption and manipulation
The Association warned that failure to act within the stipulated period would compel it to initiate democratic protests and pursue legal remedies, including approaching constitutional and anti

Addressing a press conference, Dimapur District Auto Drivers’ Union (DDADU) President Tito Yeptho announced that the auto rate chart will be implemented from February 1, 2026. He informed that passengers can collect the rate chart booklet from the DDADU office and that it is mandatory for auto drivers to carry the rate book, failing which penalties will be imposed. Drivers found violating the prescribed rates will also face penal action.He further stated that night-time fares will be mutually negotiated between drivers and passengers . In case of grievances, passengers have been advised to approach the parking in-charge or concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, Yeptho confirmed his re-election as DDADU President for a three-year term and expressed gratitude to union members for placing their trust in him once again.

DDThe Meghalaya Government tabled the State Reservation Policy in the Assembly, prompting a strong reaction from the opposition Voice of the People’s Party (VPP).
VPP president and Nongkrem MLA Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said the party would carefully study the policy placed before the House. “If the review is acceptable, we will celebrate; if not, we will agitate,” he stated.
The VPP had led protests in 2023 demanding an immediate review of the 1972 job reservation policy. Subsequently, an expert committee chaired by Justice (Retd.) Mool Chand Garg was constituted in September 2023.
Although the committee submitted its report in June 2025, it has not been made public, raising concerns over transparency in the review process.
