P L A Y D O U G H K I T I revamped our playdough box over the weekend and of course its sparked a lot more playdough play again. 2 mins of prep for hours of free play? I'm down for that! So why does my mum/OT brain love having a playdough box ready to go? Well, not only is it a lot of fun to play with (for all ages really!) ... playdough also is great for working out those little fingers for fine motor control and pre-writing skills. Even for BB at 6 years old, playdough offers plenty of opportunities to continue to strengthen her hands/fingers for other life tasks (think: scissor skills, knife use for food prep, managing buttons/zips/shoe laces). Equally as important, playdough is a great calming sensory play for emotional regulation as well (big feels in our house still even 4 weeks into the school year!). There's heaps of other things I love about playdough ... I'm sure i could go on and on forever! 🌈 This playdough was a DIY using @mothercould recipe 🌈 Box is @sistema_au from @woolworths_au 🌈 Ice cream scoops from @beadiebugplay 🌈 Resin hearts from @clever_bugs 🌈 Ice cream cones and stand from @wonderseekerssensoryplay #sensoryplay #playdough #finemotorskills #anyplaytoday #simpleplayforlittles

Because it’s behind the everyday stuff you don’t even think about until it’s hard: doing up zips, using a fork, holding a pencil, cutting, dressing, drawing… all of it. And honestly? Playdough is the sneakiest way to build it. Rolling pinching pressing cutting stamping squeezing It’s tiny hand muscles getting stronger while your kid just thinks they’re “playing”. These Easter doughs + tools are made for that kind of purposeful play (and they’re seriously gorgeous, which doesn’t hurt).
