The HARDEST thing about BLOCKING a lot of times is adjusting to the opponents TEMPO! When you train blocking, you are learning to move against your team’s offense. On game day? It’s a different story…. In this clip, @nayelis_cabello blocks against a fast GO, and a slower out of system ball. Notice how both moves look the same as she leaves the ground! Your block move needs to be adaptable to different tempos so you always finish aggressively! Nay’s first step (right step) timing helps her with this. Here’s what I recommend: 1. Rest without guilt Sleep in. Take naps. Sit on the couch. Rest is productive when your body has been in survival mode all semester. 2. Regulate your nervous system Simple, low-effort things: Walks outside (even 10 minutes) Stretching or gentle movement Deep breathing before bed This is huge for stress, gut health, and hormones (especially for teachers). 3. Create space from school Don’t open email “just to check” Don’t plan lessons unless it genuinely brings you peace Your brain needs to remember who you are outside of teaching. 4. Eat to support energy (not restriction) Regular meals Protein at breakfast Hydration This helps reduce that “exhausted but wired” feeling when break ends. 5. Do something that fills you Not errands.
