With his character’s story largely resolved, he began questioning where the role could realistically go next, admitting that continuing would have felt motivated more by money than creative purpose.
He has also spoken candidly about the personal struggles he experienced during the later years of the show, including burnout and issues with alcohol and mental health, which further influenced his decision to step away and reassess his life beyond the series.
