How to Sew a Lone Star Block: Part 1 Want to make this Lone Star block with me? Comment “lone star” and I’ll message you the link to get the free pattern. An important thing to keep in mind when cutting these diamond strips is that accuracy is key to ensure the block sews together nicely. If the 45 degree is lined up with the center seam but the 2.25” line on your ruler doesn’t line up, then you will need to trim that edge so it is 45 degrees again. Questions? The reveal! The Great Plains Star Quilt top is done! Perfect timing too - it got to go on our little road trip, and I had a husband and daughter gracious enough to be quilt holders at one of my favourite view points at Moose Lake. 😍 This quilt pattern was designed by @plainsandpine, and I made it super scrappy by choosing fabrics for each component separately instead of following the fabric requirements chart. I love how it turned out! This one is going to get a special hand quilting treatment, but since there are a few ahead of it in the queue, it will now be folded up carefully and asked to wait patiently. #greatplainsstarquilt #plainsandpinepatterns

I’ve been working on this king sized quilt since the new year and it feels so good to finally have the top pieced together. It will probably take me months to complete the pieced borders and quilting, but one day this will live on our bed and I am so excited for that day. For now, it will likely hang in my dining room so I can admire it/stay motivated to complete the borders. I used @plainsandpine wonderful Patchwork Lone Star Block as the base and then just set them on point. Receiving one of my quilt tops in the mail for Halloween that I didn’t have to quilt sure felt like the biggest Halloween treat I’ve ever received. Long-arm dreaming over here 💭 @stitchlabquilting did such a fantastic job long-arm quilting my quilt that I pieced and I’m obsessed with the turnout. I specifically chose neon pink thread in the Mystic Moth panto by @mistletoequiltingco to match perfectly with the @artgalleryfabrics I pieced for the top. The moths are framed by diamonds too which also compliments the quilt pattern (💎) so well. I mean, it’s 🔥! Now to choose binding and get this beauty finished. I’m thinking a bright pop of purple but we’ll see. A huge thank-you and big hugs to @stitchlabquilting for working her quilting magic on this one! Thank you so much to @maywoodstudio for sending me the flannel backing fabric which I’m completely in love with. Thank you to @plainsandpine for asking me to test her amazing #westernskystarquilt pattern. Because of her, I think lone star quilts with flannel are my favorites and I think I need more in my collection. Happy Halloween and Happy Quilt Con Submission date to all who celebrate!
