“My son Cole Brings Plenty Coco did a follow up video to the Thanksgiving video he made. Its never been posted before so I wanted to share. In my life I’ve seen much, enough to understand the issues and can see how our Lakota people’s plight in life has been full of turmoil which has intentionally been pressed upon our families. Its important to understand these issues, so we can make the necessary changes, because in the end, we are the only ones that care what happens to our Lakota people. The fact is, we are still fighting for an existence, our language, traditions and culture, a Lakota existence. I’ve seen how our ways and words are used, just spoken and never intended on its direction. WoLakota directs us to be Lakota, its our inherent right because of the blood in our veins, its a directive by our ancestors. Some use our words as a means for resources and thats it, not in our prayer, not in our Lakota values, customs, not in wausila, because for Lakota families these meanings and practices are our whole existence, its what we were born to be. Hecetu.. (miss my son, always. He carried all those teachings, as all my children and young people who grew up with me do, love you all)..”

WOOn February 8, 2024, Cole Brings Plenty participated in an Indigenous language open mic at Haskell. He sang a song in his language. He was a good contributor. Our hearts go out to his classmates at Haskell and his family, and all those who loved him. His death is a big loss, and we call for better reporting, investigation and treatment of the events leading to his death. He should still be with us. Pilamaya ye, Cole, for loving your language and culture while we were fortunate enough to have you with us. The time was too brief. Cole should still be here.

Cole Brings Plenty went missing on March 31, 2024, in Lawrence, Kansas, where he lived. His disappearance was reported after he missed a scheduled appointment with his agent for a TV show, which was out of character for him. His vehicle, a white 2005 Ford Explorer with a Kansas license plate (368PXB) and chipping paint, was last seen leaving Lawrence and heading southbound on U.S. Highway 59. Cole was facing domestic violence charges at the time of his disappearance.
He was in a relationship with Tierra Teske, but they were no longer together, and Tierra had introduced a new man, Levi J. Harris-Hale, into her life.
Cole Brings Plenty was found dead on April 5, 2024, in Johnson County, Kansas, under mysterious circumstances, days after his family reported him missing.
Their hair was forceable cut off, which suspects foul play, and can be categorized as a hate crime.
The cause of his death was not disclosed immediately, and an investigation into his death was ongoing. His uncle, Mo Brings Plenty, and other family members expressed their grief and requested privacy during this difficult time. The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, of which Cole was a tribal citizen, demanded a thorough investigation into his disappearance and subsequent death.
There should be a full investigation!
