Don’t book another Delta flight without checking AirFrance and VirginAtlantic FIRST. They often sell the SAME DELTA FLIGHTS for next to no miles when u compare it to Deltas price in Skymiles. My flight to Japan would have cost me between 98k and 115k Delta Skymiles. But luckily I checked VirginAtlantic and AirFrance first and found the exact same flight for sale for sale - on DELTA - through both airlines. This of course won’t work every time. But more often than not, you will find some amazing deals. And best of all, AirFrance and VirginAtlantic points are transferrable from nearly every major credit card that has transferrable points. This makes it so much easier to accumulate points, and then use LESS of them to book your next Delta flight. This is why I generally recommend credit cards with TRANSFERRABLE points more so than branded points. Flexibility is the key to finding the best deals in aviation 🙌 #travel #delta #deal #tokyo #points

Some things in our marriage now just go unsaid. Here are 4 rules I’ve set since we started points & miles: 1. He NEVER adds me as an authorized user Some issuers, mainly Chase, includes authorized user accounts on your credit report when they count how many cards you’ve opened in the last 24 months. Chase has a rule (the “5/24” rule). If that authorized user pushes you over 5, Chase is likely to deny your application— and thereby less likely to earn that card’s welcome bonus. You can usually call & have the authorized user removed & explain the situation, but honestly — who has time for that? 2. He NEVER books his own hotels Why? He knows I’ll make sure to maximize the value of our spend and travel bookings. I use shopping portals like Rakuten & Rove to stretch those bookings even further. He concedes to knowing I’m the expert in this area, and now every time he has travel coming up, he lets me know his dates & location. He carries luggage, I do the rest. Different strengths. 3. He NEVER opens a store-branded credit card Why: Store cards often have low value and high opportunity cost. Opening one can block bigger signup bonuses on flexible, transferable points cards. Transferable points card can give you WAY more value than some cashback at Cabela’s. Additionally, it will count against your 5/24 count, impacting your ability to open future cards. Don’t fall for it. 4. He NEVER uses his debit card Why: Debit cards don’t earn points or miles. Using them for expenses is literally leaving free trips on the table. We only use our debit card as a last resort. Those Dreamliners can’t come soon enough… same “sparkling wine,” same Missoni bedding, same lounge access, same name and prices… one with a screen that is 4X the size and resolution of the other. This might be the biggest product discrepancy for the same branded experience… and it’s hard to tell which product you are getting unless you really dig in to the aircraft type. How do the other Delta Diamonds do it? Just refuse to book the 767-300 Delta One? Premium Select is better on this aircraft, IMO! #pointsandmiles #skymileslife #travelbetter #deltaone #travelfail
