This is the villain Plankton from SpongeBob. He was inspired by copepods, tiny crustaceans that drift in the water and go wherever the current takes them. . In some of my samples, I get thousands of them, and they cause me problems because they feast on my precious algae. They’re like little garbage disposals, anything that reaches their mouths gets devoured. . Copepods have two very different life stages. Adults look like the big one in the clip, while the young are the small, arachnid-like jumpers around it, called nauplii. A nauplius eventually goes through metamorphosis to become an adult copepod we see here. . When startled, they leap away like me when my head touches the showerhead with my eyes closed while showering. 😂I slowed down the second clip to half-speed so their movement is easier to see. Introducing the Mechanical Creature Kit!! 👀⚙️🔩 I am sooo excited to finally share this, and I can’t believe how much we’ve been working on it. I’ve always wanted my own kitbash pack with tiny metal parts, so I don’t have to model the same generic stuff all the time. And since I’m also still hooked on making creatures and robots and stuff, I just had to make this happen!! BIG thanks to @jorgilla3d for helping me out with modelling, texturing, shading AND geometry nodes stuff. What a legend. Without him this pack wouldn’t have happened!
