MIWinter weather means dry studios in my neck of the woods. I left a couple pots uncovered overnight and found them nearing bone dry in the morning.
Instead of chucking it in the reclaim bucket, I'll dip it in water -- just enough to wet the pot, then let it sit on the wheel until it has absorbed the moisture. It might take a second dunk, but this usually gets it back to a leather hard state for trimming and correcting any rim distortion.
Although, the best defense is a good offence, so wrap those pots!
