𝗔 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 There is a kind of inherent knowledge that we all carry within ourselves from the moment we come into this world. We are also shaped by our experiences, which determine how we perceive & judge the world around us, others’ actions, & ourselves. As a reader, true wisdom is rare to perceive through just reading. I never know where I might come across the advice or wisdom that could change my perspective — and potentially my life — for the better. May be that's why I'm an idiot. Myshkin an idiot, is a prince, who is returning from Switzerland 🇨🇭. Myshkin is a clean-hearted, pious individual who speaks plainly about whatever he wants to say. He cannot even think of doing something bad to anyone and will forgive everyone. For that reason, people call him an idiot, thinking he does not know anything. Now, after the publication of “The Idiot” in 1869, Dostoevsky expressed disappointment with certain parts of the novel. He was highly critical of the story, as he felt there was greater artistic and philosophical depth that could have been explored. He was also conscious he had failed to make the perfect man after all. But, I think that's not the case. The example of Christ in the story is presented here as someone who acts as a bridge between the two extremes of the Love Triangle; he reaches up to heaven to his father and reaches down to hell when he touches the ground, taking all of humanity’s sins upon himself. Prince Myshkin let go of Agalya without much saying, and things never really got cleared between them, and the reason why he stayed with Nastassya. Nastassya, though thinking she loved the Prince quite deeply, never really regarded Prince’s or Agalaya’s happiness more than she despised her own shame. He is being sandwiched like all of us between two extremes. He cannot truly love either woman, because he cannot choose between them. He is at the mercy of whatever suffering is before him. Myshkin's duality with Nastasya(The heaven) & Aglaya(The hell) shows that in absence of wisdom, we all stay idiot.

The Idiot by Dostoevsky follows Prince Myshkin, a genuinely good man returning to corrupt Petersburg society. Dostoevsky’s attempt to portray a ‘positively beautiful’ person shows how purity is exploited by the world. Caption Prince Myshkin sees virtue in harmlessness — innocence as moral beauty, peace as the refusal to wound. Peterson challenges that softness — arguing peace means restraint, not incapacity. One defines goodness as gentleness. The other defines it as controlled strength. --- Context Pacifism often splits here: Is moral worth found in never harming — or in having power, yet choosing not to use it? History shows both dangers: violence without conscience… and innocence unable to resist it. --- Way Forward Cultivate strength — but chain it to ethics. Teeth without conscience become tyranny. Conscience without teeth becomes prey. True peace is not fragility — it is disciplined power at rest. --- Question to Thinkers Is harmlessness a virtue — or just vulnerability mistaken for morality? --- Hashtags #PrinceMyshkin #JordanPeterson #VirtueEthics #PacifismDebate #fblifestyle

📚Book Review (No Spoilers) 📚 Title: The Idiot Author: Fyodor Dostoyevsky 🔥Goodreads: 4.2/5 📝”I consider you a most honest and truthful man, more honest and truthful than anyone else, and if they say of you that you’re sometimes ill in your mind, then that is unfair.” ⭐️On a visit to his distant relative after returning to St Petersburg, Prince Myshkin coincidently catches sight of a photograph of a beautiful lady. Since then, his life is forever altered by a love triangle, which leads to blackmail, betrayal, and something even worse… ⭐️As soon as I finished this book, I asked my friend which classic she thought that could match the same level of madness as The Idiot. Surprisingly our answers to this question was the same: Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. ⭐️Prince Myshkin is definitely not an idiot; he is just a bit simple-minded and suffers from occasional fits. He is in fact the center of his social circle and everyone seems to come to him all the time for a variety of issues. The love triangle in this story is chaotic, with one lady seemingly enjoying messing around other people’s relationships and another lady having a hard time expressing her feelings. ⭐️You would have to have some experience in reading Dostoyevsky to appreciate the details in this book, otherwise you would find the story way too lengthy. That being said, I would not recommend this book to those who have never read Dostoyevsky before; Crime and Punishment might be a better choice to begin with. ⭐️As reading other books from Dostoyevsky, I found several chapters interesting enough to read for several times. The letter that the 17-year-old consumptive wrote (and read), which lasted for nearly 30 pages, surprisingly interested me a lot 😂. The ending of the book is such a huge shocker and I had to read it again to make sure I did not interpret it incorrectly. ⭐️As always, in Dostoevsky’s books, you never need to worry about underdeveloped characters, because each one of them is unique, not just in his books but likely in the entire literature world. QOTD: What do you like the most about The Idiot?

The Holy Fool: Prince Myshkin? - Jordan Peterson: Life, Death, Power, Fame, and Meaning The discussion about Prince Myshkin from Dostoevsky's The Idiot is fascinating. They explore the idea of the 'holy fool' and the value of childlike naivety and optimism, drawing parallels to biblical themes. It offers a unique perspective on a complex character. And naive in the best possible way. I do believe that that's childlike. Yeah. Childlike is a better. So naive is usually seen as. That's childish. Naive, yeah, but childlike. That's why no one enters the kingdom of heaven unless they become like a child. That's Prince Michigan. Dostoyevsky knew that, so that's why he liked the Idiot. “I am a fool with a heart but no brains, and you are a fool with brains but no heart; and we're both unhappy, and we both suffer.” is part of a famous quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel The Idiot. In the context of the novel, the main character, Prince Myshkin (often considered the "idiot" due to his innocence and naivety in a corrupt society), is seen as a person who acts primarily from compassion and love, but lacks the worldly sense to navigate the complex social plots and manipulations around him. He is contrasted with other characters who may be highly intelligent ("brains") but are driven by ambition, greed, or other self-serving motives and lack true empathy or compassion ("heart"). The quote highlights the idea that neither pure emotion without practical intelligence nor pure intelligence without compassion leads to happiness or a complete life; both types of individuals experience unhappiness and suffering.

St. Vitus’ Dance is an old name for a neurological disorder in which a person experiences involuntary movements resembling a dance. In the Middle Ages, it was perceived as a mystical phenomenon, uniting ecstasy and suffering. During my Myshkin attack, this image felt especially close: the body and emotions pierced by powerful tension, almost a trance. In searching together with director Krzysztof Warlikowski, I turned to this image — to the dance of St. Vitus, where suffering transforms into something expressive and almost mystical.
