ANKLE PROPRIOCEPTION plays an important role in balance control and can have a huge impact on athletic performance when rehabbing from an injury. • ⛹🏽‍♂️ When it comes to sports, not all movements occur in a controlled atmosphere. There are going to be unstable surfaces (i.e. grass, dirt) and external forces being placed on the body that an athlete needs to be able to adapt to. • 🔑 Focusing on proprioceptive activities in physical therapy allows the patient to adapt to what they can expect to see when they return back to their sport. It’s important to note that at this point in physical therapy, there has already been an emphasis on building a strength foundation.
